View Full Version : Looking for inspiration pictures - fine hair TBL-FTL, worn down

Hello All!
I'm getting married in the summer and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my hair. The problem is that I have a) limited visual imagination and b) FTL, very fine hair with fairy tale ends.
I have been hunting google for pictures of what long hair looks like down (especially with a wedding dress) but google is failing me. All the hair is either much shorter than mine or preturnaturally thick. So then I thought "where could I find picture of very long hair without extensions in a variety of down-dos?" and then I thought "duh, LHC!"
So, ladies (sorry gents, you're no help unless you'd like to put on a dress) of the LHC I am asking for your help. Any pictures you have of your TBL-FTL length hair, worn down (straight, curled, waved pinned in parts, fancy braids, any style that isn't up or in a braid), would be much appreciated! Brownie points of gratitude if said pics are in a dress (double points for wedding dress) or hair is red/fine/fairytale ends or taken outdoors in sunlight.
To give context, these are a few pics I have taken of styles with my own hair that show what I'm working with. (They are from early attempts to curl my hair, which is a much steeper learning curve than I think I'll be able to master in time...)

In my signature picture you can see my almost babyfine, but a lot, hair worn down. I'll pull up a bigger picture, hold on:

I see absolutely no reason why you can't wear it like in your pictures! Especially the second one (half-up) would be *gorgeous* with a nice dress!

I have my hair worn down in my avatar (to the left) and my profile photo (click on my name if you're interested in seeing it!:)). I agree with Lapushka; I think your hair would look absolutely beautiful worn in a half up with a wedding dress... maybe add some bling or flowers to it too? :D

Hope you don't mind a guy responding, but your picture makes me think of princess hair. This type of thing would look lovely with a gown.

Lapushka - is that your natural texture? It looks really good!
Aredhel - I'm toying with the idea of straight hair, just because it seems to be so much shinier looking, but I find it generally looks better on dark hair, like yours :)
Cjk - I don't mind guys sharing at all :) I just figured they'd be less likely to have pics on hand. I like the look of that style, but I'm not sure how it would look with my length and also I can't do anything that pulls my hair straight back at the hairline (I have what looks like a receding hairline due to finer, lighter hair and a recent shed from untreated anemia) :(
Lithostoic - Thanks :)

I think your lovely waves would look much better on you than straight hair - also they make your hair look thicker :) With your lovely hair, any style would look fabulous on you!
This is how I wore my hair for my wedding: Just a simple half-up twisted with flowers, and hair with braid waves.

Sarahlabyrinth: Unfortunately, I don't have natural waves. My hair is technically 1c/2a, but because it's so fine the waves fall right flat (except for LOTS of flyaways) unless I curl it somehow... I like your look - I have a golden floral headband that i'm going to wearing :)

Well, those are braid waves on me, not my own waves. Those waves you have in your photos you showed us look great and I'm sure you could wear those again? A golden floral headband would look magnificent in your hair :) Could you add a little setting lotion or mousse or something before curling or using braid waves? It would help them to hold for longer.

I would recommend keeping wavy hair too, your hair looks so romantic in that second picture - straight out of a fairytale. :)

Thanks! My natural texture has much more random waviness :) More like this:

It would look extremely similar to SarahLabyrinth's picture. You mentioned fairy tale...go full fairytale!
And sorry but no photos in a gown. My only formal is in the closet and, being seafoam, would be inappropriate for a wedding dress.

Well Valkyriejae, the thread title says you're looking for inspiration, but your hair is inspiration! :thud: so beautiful!!
Echoing those who've already said the style in your second pic would be gorgeously suitable, especially with some decoration :)

I agree with the idea of a half-up like in your second photo, especially if you threw in a waterfall braid crown - maybe with flower clips/pins?

I think it would be gorgeous on you. I hope my hair will look like yours when it's longer (we have similar colors and the length/health of your hair is absolutely stunning)!

I did something similar (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=143814&page=3&p=3462191&viewfull=1#post3462191) with a Delicate Tangles floral braid-in. (Apologies for the heinous picture quality...I didn’t have anyone around right then to help photograph).

MusicalSpoons - thanks! I always find myself suffering from hair envy (one of the reasons I took a break from LHC) so it's nice to hear nice things about my hair :)
christib13: I like the look of that style, I just worry about sectioning making my ends look straggly...
C_Bookworm - that looks really good! Out of curiosity, how did you secure the flowers?
fhairyqueen - Thanks so much :)
Midnight Moon - Thanks for sharing those links. I wish my hair was as gorgeous as Lunnafindel's, and NightShade has always been one of my go-tos (we have similar hair, and I actually use her henna!)

So here’s what the basic product looks like: a comb with flowers attached to clear thread (http://etsy.me/1rmy4mx). I braided it through a waterfall braid and let the remaining blossoms cascade down. Around each thread I braided a very small braid so that the thread was completely camouflaged.
