View Full Version : Temporary copper red that will work on very dark hair? Cosplaying Black Widow

I normally cosplay as Wonder Woman but I'm working on a Black Widow costume now, so it's either dye my hair red or buy a wig. So what are my options for this, or should I just go ahead with a wig?

This is a recent pic of my hair and I wish I had brushed it before this was taken, but whatever, you can at least get an idea about it. :)

Also, if I go the wig route, Arda Wigs has been recommended to me but I'd happily entertain other suggestions. Thanks, guys!

I'd say a wig. I'm from Europe , so can't suggest a brand. I'd find something on Amazon, Ebay or Etsy :)
I am sure you can find some creative , beautiful stuff on Etsy.

I would second Arda Wigs. I have always been happy with the wigs I have gotten there. They also have a cosplay styling gallery kicking around somewhere that people have put their pictures on to show how they styled stock wigs for different cosplays. Their facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ArdaWigs/posts/996604467037510)may be useful to you. There are pictures with what people have used and the color chosen for Black Widow specifically (https://www.arda-wigs.com/products/ferrari-classic?variant=1922872279052) as well. This one (https://www.arda-wigs.com/collections/classic-lacefront/products/bucky-classic?variant=27838035718) could work too if you want something shorter.

Thanks, guys! Someone told me to go with a "lacefront" wig but she didn't go into detail why. Would any of you know what's so much better about them? Is it worth the extra cost? They are twice what the regular wigs are. I've never worn any wig at all so I have no idea what the differences would be.

Wigs are your best bet. Vibrant colors won't show up well on unprocessed dark hair. Lace front wigs have a more realistic hairline but it's not really worth the difference in price for a wig you'll wear once?

It'll definitely get used again, probably many times. I do a lot of comic cons and charity work as these characters. I probably ought to just bite the bullet and go with the lace front. But I've got to decide if I want to go short Black Widow or long Black Widow..... Thoughts on that?

I found an interesting video about making a regular wig (non-lace front) look more natural like a lace front. There are other videos on the side bar that might be informative too.
