what a braided or rope braid number 8 bun would look like?

I dont know if anybody has tried this, but I would love to see what this would look like, my time machine is broken at the moment else I would zoom forward a few years!

Anybody willing to model for me?:cheese:

I'd settle for just being able to do a figure 8

Not a figure-eight, sorry, but an infinity bun made with a 4-strand rope braid.

Lovely HairColoredHair and Teazel! :applause
Great variations on a figure-8, which I will have to remember for future use. ;)

Looking gorgeous and inspiration, ladies! I can't wait until my hair is long enough to do a decent bun, let alone a figure 8 or infinity. Herringbone and Rope braids are my favorite for both of those :)

My hair is so curly, that all buns come out looking basically the same. The detail isn't visible.

Mine do that sometimes too.;)

Okay, Teazel nudged me into this ... :blossom:

Figure-8s made with two-strand rope braid (left) and Elainehali's four-strand rope braid (right).

My four-strand rope braid didn't really come out that great today, but it looks good in a figure-8 anyway. :)

I second that! :thudpile:

I can't wait to be able to try this; of course, I can't even do a regular Fig 8 yet (maybe when I reach hip?), so braided (especially a 4-strand rope, which I haven't even attempted) is a long way off!

Thanks Nat242 and Teazel. :grouphug:

Nat242 - can you do a bee-butt bun with two coils? If so, you should be able to do a figure-8, I think.

Teazel- that looks amazing!!! I'm pretty positive I need a bit more length to do a rope braided infinity bun, but I'm going to try! :D

AprilElf- that is lovely!!! I really like the four strand one on the right! Is Elainehali's four-strand rope braid different than a regular four strand rope braid?

Oh no! Now you'll have to change your user name!!
:p
I looooove that color, btw. Very natural looking. Did you mix with cassia?

No, I didn't... but it was about half-diluted with conditioner, which accomplished about the same thing, really. It just turned it into a 'gloss' moreso.

A very natural strawberry color, yes, but I've darkened it a bit since, it just didn't work with my skin. :)

And 'red' is still a hair color, I suppose!

Hi arylkin - thanks!
I'm not sure what a 'regular' four-strand rope braid is. I just know of two different ways of doing it: Elainehali's one (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=52), and my variation (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=5915), which is two rope braids twisted together.
