First of all, i know its my fault for braiding tightly my hair for some time. I decided to start braidng my hair as loosely as i can to not get any bald spots. I washed my hair today, let my hair be very damp almost to dry and i braided it as loosely as i could. I noticed my hair roots are kind of thin, my hair is thin to medium but my roots remain kind of thick and not very thin. I know i have tortured my hair with all the braids etc and i want so bad to do something to let my hair air-dry and do something to help my hair remain wavy or atleast curly like they get when i do braids but, as i said my hair doesnt get beautiful when air-drying even if i put a product. I know this is a huge trouble but if anyone can give me an idea what to do, if I dont have an idea myself, tell me.

Maybe plopping would help you? My hair does not air dry nice looking either if I just leave it alone. I usually damp braid but since that is out for you, what about plopping in a buff or silk scarf? That is, get out as much excess water as you can (I put it up in a T-shirt), leave that for while, and take it down when your hair is still damp but not dripping. That alone might help. If it, then you could try drying it the rest of the way loosely piled into something like a buff, silk sleep cap, or silk scarf. I use the latter.

Yes plopping and scrunching, and in the end... leaving it natural. I think that is the best you can do. In the morning, mist it with some water, and I would stop braiding asap.

Good luck!!! I do not think of it as something damaging at all. I use a T-shirt instead of a towel which is very soft, and there is no manipulation or pulling if you just wrap it loosely. Think of it like “plopping” your hair forward and putting it in a bag to dry :). For me, it helps my waves dry more smoothly in their natural pattern.
