Hello Everyone! On my last post "Where do you buy your hair sticks?" I decided on buying a my first pair of ONN's hair sticks as recommended by Groovy Granny (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=145605 ) When I looked on his Esty shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/OutNumberedNovelties) I found his semi-DIY kit which is where you get to complete your hair stick by doing all the final sanding. (It is a few dollars cheaper than the already finished kind and It's really fun too!) I just received my package around 2:00pm today and quickly opened up and started getting to work. :D

This is what my hair sticks looked like after the first few steps (and getting the ends well shaped):

*It comes with the midway finished hair stick, instructions and a few different sandpaper grits* About an hour and a half later this is what I got :joy:

And here is a few picture of them in my hair, I go them cut to be 5.5in and since I have thicker hair and I want the to show more I may need to go a little bigger next time but they are still beautiful!:D

Let me know what you think, would you rather buy them already finished and ready to use or would you spend some time doing a quick and easy craft? :)

How rewarding! Personally I love sanding. Very rhythmic, methodical, requires mindfulness and focus. My idea of a good time. I've always thought the idea of selling sticks where the fpl has been turned but the rest of the block is left intact would be cool. That way those of us with carving tools can make our own acrylic toppers! ONN and our very own Seeshami are the only folks I've seen so far who have adventured into the world of detailed acrylic toppers.

Thanks MsPharaohMoan for your comment! I had a great time making this, and I wish more etsy sellers would do DIY kits like this too!

Looks great! Nice work there.

I'd love to do the craft, but I think that I'd buy better the finished product since I don't t have appropiate varnish for it and I like the shine it gives... and, of course, that they are ready to go :)

I might buy from him sometime soon, I really like his oval sticks :)

I would rather get them finished. Might be better if you ever want to sell them on too. (I think)
My hands and arms are not in the best shape, definitely sanding something is out of the question.

But they look good on you. Definitely size up a bit next time, but that doesn't mean these are useless.

They look great! And it sounds like fun too. This may have to be my next hair purchase!

And the color suits you perfectly!
