SwordWomanRiona has a tutorial for longer hair

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIUtCzPBebU

I use mini seashells regularly to deal with the extra length from a crown braid.

Or multiples for fancy updos.

For mini's I wrap twice around two fingers and what ever remains around one.

Ooops! Looks like we've done this one before in 2011 (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=83039). Ah well, its a good one.

So pretty Neko :)
I have tried many times and failed; my hair is just too fine/wispy

But I love looking at all the pics

I love how this bun looks in your hair, littlestarface!

I've never tried this one before -- I followed the instructions in SWR's video and I really like it. I wore it most of the day to day and it seems to be the most comfortable way I've figured out to wear my ficcare. Here it is, with a bonus appearance from my dog giving me a silly look :)

Any advice on what to do with the foot and a half of hair I have left over after following SwordWomanRiona's tutorial? I have tried to just continue wrapping like she does but i have too much and it doesn't stay. I also have tried to wrap it around the outside and that looks really strange and ruins the shell bun look for me. I have tried to do it with a braid to eat up some of my length but I still had a lot left over.

Very pretty!

I love your Ficci too; I have a France Luxe Barrette in the color.

:waving: I'll take it

I'd love to see a pic of your hair down with that great length

Thank you so much everyone :smooch: It loos great with longer hair cuz it makes for a awesome deeper spiral inside which looks really cool. But it is more suited for shorter hair.

Thanks, Sarahlabyrinth and GG :)

HaMalka- maybe try doing the whole thing like an equilibrium bun? When I want to do a french twist I usually don't twist up my hair as a plain pony tail, but I grab it in the middle and twist it while keeping it looped around my finger, so the hair in doubled in on itself. If you had enough length you could then continue to twist and coil the doubled up extra hair that ends up above the twist. Hope that made sense...

I'll give it a try with my length later today or tomorrow and get back to you if I find a solution!

I love the look but it is not a stable bun for me. I think spin pins and a stick next time because it spit out twenty normal hair pins.

I guess i will have to give up on this one. Hair keeps getting caught in my wedding ring. And I can't take it off easily. These who have tried have made lovely buns. Also I do not have a ficcare.

Iím so happy, this is the first HotM that Iíve been pretty successful with! It was easy for me to accomplish, I only needed one extra small clip apart from the big one to secure it, and itís very stable and comfortable. This will be a new go-to for me. :D

You have a great hair color, and you rock this bun really good. By the way, you have great tattoos!

I needed to change it, and that line is so amazingly bad, it just works.

My small shell bun. I wrapped over my fingers to start because my hair is to thin to start over my hand. Need to colour as pink has faded and so has aquamarine colours.

Thank you Veganmayhem.

I have discovered that the shell bun should not be attempted on my hair when it is freshly washed, then it will explode within minutes. But it works great on day 2 or 3 hair.

Well, I have finally tried and *laughs* it looks nothing like Riona's or the other ones in the older thread, I was not sure which way to bring all the coils together and I had not enough room on my hand for the length but I also only tried three times.

Ligeia Noire, how lovely! even tho not quite shell-ish. When I do this, my extra (3? 4? 5?) coils get smashed and peep out from under like pancakes. Would love to know how to do this with longer hair! I remember learning this 6 plus years ago 9with waist length hair) and it was my go to for a while. so elegant. This and the figure 8. I miss that one, too.
