Hello everybody :)

I want to braid my hair into cornrows, however, i have no experience at all in braiding, nor cornrows.
First of all, can i braid my hair type into cornrows, it is tangled, starting to grow into dreads
Secondly, how long does the cornrows stay before it starts to loosen up
lastly, i will travel to a place near a beach, so is swimming daily with cornrows will break them, loosen up or any kind of trouble(No, i will not wear a swimming cap)

Here is some pics for my hair (excuse my cringy photos :o)

Year's ago I used to have my hair braided in cornrows. I have very fine hair so the cornrows did not look as full. I also have a tender scalp so I could only leave it in for a week. The way to keep it nice and fresh looking is to make sure you wear a scarf or do rag. It's a good protective style. Just make sure to go someone that knows how to cornrow. They can do very pretty styles.

But your hair type could certainly go into cornrows. Unless your hair is very damaged and breaks very easily have someone look at your hair first. Believe it or not some women wear braids and it makes their hair break.

You can also do "fake" cornrows. You just section it off as if to cornrow, then take a strand and start flat twisting it on your head, so twisting it as you go further and further along your head. That is what I used to do (to minimize tension on my scalp mainly).

1. I think you can braid your hair into cornrows, it is curly which means the hair will have better grip.
2. With my hair type, when I do 2 large cornrows they last for a week. But, generally, the looser your curls, the shorter your cornrows will last.
3. Again depending on your hair type and length, and the tension you used when braiding, swimming will lead to the braids unravelling, the speed depends on those factors.

YouTube has some very good cornrow tutorials, if you find one that is done with hair closer to your hair type, that should be quite useful as there will be a few tips and tricks. Practice is the key to doing your own cornrows, keep practising, and you'll get the hang of it,
