Hi everyone! So excited to join you all on your long & healthy hair journey! :o:blossom:
My username already says a lot about me: "curly" because I have 3b/c curls, and "mermaid" because I'm from the Bahamas. My hair is currently between BSL and MBL when curly, and is waist length when stretched. I'm going to trim some of my heat damage off next month, and then I hope to have my hair at waist length curly by Christmas 2018 (which would probably put it at BCL/TBL stretched)! My current battle is fighting breakage. My hair grows pretty steadily. I've just committed many hair-sins since entering university since I went to a place with a colder less humid climate that would let me flat iron my hair and keep it straight for a week. I've flat ironed my hair probably 12 times in the past 3 years (which is a lot for me), and bleached my whole head of hair last April!! :confused: (Why, girl, why?)
Anyway- my new rules for hair care include no bleach for the next 3 years, and no heat styling for the next 5 years. Working on learning more about protein/moisture balances and babying my ends. I've always loved making "potions" as my mom used to call them. Now they manifest in the form of hair oils and beauty products made from all natural ingredients/EO's. I do love my silicones for detangling and coating my ends, though. I went silicone free the past few years and I think that was part of the issue.
When I'm not worrying about my hair, I'm a screenwriter/storyteller who loves Bahamian seas, reiki, the gym, porch parties, and beach bonfires with friends. I'm also an avid reader and a renowned "collector of useless information" like my dad.
