I can't believe we haven't done 5-stand for a hair style of the month before!

Here is a video with colored cord, if that helps.

Beautiful, but I don't think I have enough hair for this! Or talent, haha

I don't have the talent, lol!

Yay, one I most certainly can participate in
Five strand braid is what I wear under my riding helmet (it's flat enough to not interfer with the protecting properties of the helmet). Now I just have to remember to take a picture before I leave for the stables. My braid after is not something I want to share. :p:D

I can't braid reliably on anyone else's hair, let alone my own. XD Nice look though!

Sorry, I have ever mastered the four strand much less five strands, but it is beautiful.

Pretty easy to do, really. If I can manage it, surely many of you will have no trouble.

I've managed it on the side where I can see it, but in the back where I can't see it's still not working out for me.

I just tried it on the side. I can do it but it is not pretty. I think it will work better if I put it in a ponytail first. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Here's my braid today:

I changed to regular three strand around waist due to lack of thickness (the braid strands get so thin they're hard to hold on to).

Beautiful maria!

I just learned the 4-strand, but maybe I can practise the 5-strand? Hmmm not sure, let's see if I can do it in a few weeks. :p

Thank you! :flower:

I learned using this tutorial, maybe it can be helpful for someone else too.

I used to do that one occasionally but it didn't wear well. There was so much braid shred!

*bursting in* my favorite braid! (Well, one of them... but this was the first "complicated" braid I learned to do so it has a special place in my heart lol.). I'll definitely be wearing this one during the month; pictures to follow...

Maria, yours is beautiful! I like to end 5-strands with 3-strands too when ends get thin, and sometimes I end a 3-strand with a fishtail for similar reasons.

When I'm on a computer later I'll link to loepsie's tutorial on this one, which is how I first learned to do a 5-strand on myself.

A 5 strand really tests your finger dexterity and hand eye coordination! The past couple of nights I've used it in place of my regular 3 strand night time sleeping braid. It gives me looser braid waves the next day, which is a nice change of style. I like it!

Holy cats, I can do a five strand braid on someone else's hair, but the idea of being able to do a five strand french braid on myself is blowing my mind. That's some serious braid skills!

Lovely the change to three strand looks like it was done by design. :)

Here's how mine looked! And here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz7FlauLlDE) is the video I originally learned from, though she did an updated (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbz_GkQG1OA) video this past march. (:

Nice work Maria and Wispe!

I'm pretty sure I've succeeded at this in the past but I haven't attempted it quite some time, so I figured a nice quiet weekend would be a good time to try again. Only, I'd damp braided my hair the day before and my braid fluff detangled hair was having none of it.

I'll have to try again next time I wash.

I've almost got a handle on this but the transition from behind the head to over the shoulder when braiding is throwing me off. My dexterity is definitely not up to par.

I can barely do a 3 strand braid

Here's my attempt. I've never done it before, but my fingers managed to get the hang of it :)

Here's mine! It's certainly not the best braid I've done but it will do!

Here's how mine looked! That was so pretty! I am so sad you lost your length, but the new cut is cute, and hopefully you will be long again soon (((hugs))))

WOW .....you are all gorgeous :thud:

Sadly, my head of hair will not support braids (except English and Faux French)...so I will just enjoy YOURS

I'm going to try this later! I don't imagine I'll get very far. I have a hard enough time with 3 strands due to pain/lack of dexterity. We'll see :P
