View Full Version : A Different Kind of Pay It Forward

DesertUnicorn

In honor and memory of Magicatt’s Halloween birthday, I’m doing a different kind of Pay if Forward. This Pay It Forward is on your own honor. I ask that you commit to do something nice for someone that you normally wouldn’t already be doing during this holiday season. It can be anything and doesn’t have to be something that costs money – give your aunt or great aunt that you haven’t talked to in ages a phone call, take a plate of cookies to someone who lives alone on your street, help a mother you know by taking care of her kids so she has a couple hours to do something for herself, pay for the coffee of the person behind you in the drive-thru, etc… You don’t need to tell me about it; just make the commitment to yourself to do it.

I will be posting a few of Magicatt’s hairtoys here on this thread throughout the afternoon and evening so I can catch people who are on at different times. First to claim it gets it. Only one item per person. I will pay for US postage, but if you’re elsewhere, I may need a few dollars for postage.

Please post a comment in the thread telling me which item you are claiming and then PM me your mailing info. Unfortunately, I may not be able to get to the post office until the weekend.

ITEM #1 TAKEN (PrincessBob)

This hair fork is a beautiful piece of wood and very smooth and won't snag your hair.

ITEM #2 -- TAKEN by AZDesert Rose

Magicatt loved bats. This large bat barrette is hand painted on gourd. I believe it was only worn once or twice. It is coated with a smooth sealant and is VERY lightweight.

ITEM #3 TAKEN (Becs)

Carved Owl Hair Fork

ITEM #4 -- TAKEN by mz_butterfly

Black, White and Orange swirled acrylic hair stick. Very smooth. 7 inches long and nearly as big around as my thumb at the thickest end

ITEM #5 TAKEN (megthehennahead)

A four prong hair fork. I'm not sure of the type of wood, but it is very pretty. I think it looks nicer in person than in the photo.

ITEM #6 TAKEN (Krissycats)

A Tree of life hairstick. I really like the green stones in this. There is a close-up of the dangle on a darker background than the other photos are on so you can see it a bit better.

Jenna was my best friend. I miss her terribly. I'm helping her husband sell her hair toys and a bit of her jewelry. I've got longish hair myself, but I don't know a thing about hair toys. The only hair toy I've bought in the last 20 years is a silver Halloween spider hair clip, LOL!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your best friend.

But stick around long enough and you will learn all about hair stuff ;) Maybe keep a couple of items for yourself just in case you want to learn some new styles with hair toys. :)

Thank you to both of you and to all the others who said something that I didn't quote! This forum does seem like a really nice place. :-)

I'd really have to learn the basics... I've never even done a bun. :-o I'd probably want to do half-ups or something because I hate the way I look with it all up. Maybe I can hunt around and find videos...

This is a wonderful thing you did! There are many many tutorial vids on Yt some even by members here. If you're good with just visuals Hypnotica has some really good simple ones and TorrinPaige has amazing but more complex tutorials. Welcome to our community. I knew magicatt here a bit. I am so sorry for your loss and of course that of her family. :blossom:

I just wanted to come back to say thank you again and post an action shot. I wore the fork today and I already love it so much! It'll get lots of use and I'll think of both of you every time I wear it.

Thanks so much for posting the photo! :) It looks wonderful with your hair! Sorry it took me so long to see this. Life got busy with my mom having knee problems, then I was out of town and just forgot to check this thread!

Thanks so much! I'll look for tutorials, I think and look around. I really haven't done anything with hair toys since the days of junior high. I'll have to look around and figure out what might work with my unruly wavy hair that isn't a complete updo!
