Has anyone gotten copper colored or a natural red from using henna? If so what color was your hair before using henna? Before and after pictures of any hennaed hair would be awesome.

Look up a member here named Nightshade. She keeps her hair henna'd in a copper red shade that looks very natural.

I'm not using my PC right now, so I don't have older pictures of myself, but I achieved dark copper from blondette. I've been maintaining roughly the same shade for 3.5 years now. The picture in my avatar was taken during sunset, so it might appear more rusty/redder than it actually is. Whenever I do roots + gloss (every 3 months)/full head application (which is about once a year now) I try to use 50/50 mix of henna and cassia, sometimes a little bit in favour of henna. I could obtain lighter copper color just using more cassia, but I prefer to have it just the way it is now.
If your hair color is anything like mine, or a little darker/lighter, copper is the color you will most likely get. If it is significantly darker, you'll end up with a red hint in the sun. On the other hand, if it is very light - it'll appear more orange. You could post your hair here so we could help you imagine what you're going to get. If you decide to apply henna, remember that your results may vary, as we are all different and our hair reacts to henna differently, based on porosity, type and many other factors. Just strand test first, as henna is a commitment and it's much better to know what you're committing to :D

This is my hair just 2 months ago, color is exactly the same now. It looks darker and browner in shade and artificial light.

Not sure if my color is considered copper, it might be a touch too orange but I get it with henna over light blond/grey hair.

I think henna/cassia mixes or henna glosses result in a quite natural red colour. Straight up henna is beautiful, but usually doesn't look as believable as a henna gloss or henna/cassia mix in my opinion. :)

Check out the natural dyes / recipes thread, there is a henna thread on there that you can go through to learn more about henna.

Short answer? It all depends on your own hair color. The key is to strand test, so collect at least 14 days' worth of shed hairs so you can make dye balls and test various recipes on *your particular hair color*.

You can only truly test this on your own hair. No amount of other people's pictures is going to tell you what it will do on your hair. :flower:

Curious about this thread because I have light brown/ash brown hair. And LOVE copper hair. I had bright electric orange/copper hair for a few years. Through bleach and dye, and miss it dearly. If I could get that back again with henna maybe id do it. henna being the most natural route.

Yes, henna gives you a beautiful, deep copper shade that is both natural looking and vibrant. Yet thick and strong too.

Aw, thank you both so much :flowers:

What I use isn't straight henna, it's 65% cassia/senna/other herbs and 35% henna. I've done 100% henna in the past and ended up with burgundy. I think the copper is much more suiting to my skin tone.
