I have 2A hair but my curls always fall out shortly after drying even though I don't touch them. Currently I use Shea Moisture Jamaican castor oil shampoo and suave coconut conditioner both are sulfate and silicone free. I use the Shea moisture matching leave in conditioner.
I'm not sure why my waves don't stay in tact I don't believe I have too much build up, I only wash my hair once every one or two weeks (water only during non hair washing showers).
I haven't purchased devacurl before because the price scared me off lol, but I'm 5 mos pregnant and feeling like pampering myself before baby. Some reviews say no poo Decadence can be heavy on 'looser' curls and waves. I saw on devacurl site that low poo is more for wavy hair because it's lightweight and maybe that's what I need if my waves always fall out with drying? Is no poo a better product or more hydrating?
Your feedback is much needed!

My waves fall out or frizz as they dry usually as well. The only Devacurl thing I've tried was the gel, and that didn't work out the way I was trying it. Hopefully someone who has tried it will chime in soon.
For my waves I've been experimenting with leave ins and gels to keep more waves this summer. So far the best method has been to put the leave in or gel on dripping wet hair and let that dry with minimal touching. It helps a bit.
I find all the curl leave ins and gels too heavy on damp hair but on dripping wet hair and sparingly they work better. Though in my case I have coarse hair which can handle a bit more weight than finer hair types.

I find Shea jco very heavy on my hair and if I wanted to keep my waves that would be the last product on my list to use. I can't see your hair type as I'm on my phone so that may not be the case for you.
However, I have yet to find a way to keep my waves/curls looking half decent for more than 10 minutes. I always end up with straggly snakes. It's a difficult beast 2a hair which is why I hate it!!!!
I'm no help at all really, but I would try a lighter leave in which doesn't add weight to your hair :)
Just to add, on days I don't use shampoo my hair is heavier which doesn't help waves.

I wouldn't invest in Devacurl for simple washing & conditioning. You can just as easily find a low-poo or no-poo (As I am coconut line) for much less money. And I even think the "As I am" is a tad better (even though I can't personally vouch for these).
IMMHO, Devacurl is way overpriced for what it is. I would only buy their stylers. Their "supercream" is *awesome* according to a lot of curlies. But I don't hear the same rave reviews on the rest.
Only go through the regular channels though (ulta, sephora), as not many are chosen to sell it. If you find it at Amazon, I'd be careful!!!

Same here. I'm 2a/b and medium porosity. I did the CG method yesterday and had decent waves, slept in a silky cap last night and woke up to silly straight hair?!? It's so weird to have hair that curls and frizzes when you try to get it straight then you try to make it curly wavy and it goes straight??
I used a leave in and oil as I didn't have any gel and it looked decent. I bought Herbal Essence totally twisted curl gel to use next wash.
Good luck. :)

I'm 2a low porosity fine hair with medium thickness. My hair hates protein, but it's so hard to get my hair any moisture. That's one reason I'm nervous about the low poo devacurl, it has rice protein in there and I've read a lot of reviews saying it made people's hair dryer after washing. I'll look for the As I Am brand, I had noticed the Shea moisture Jamaican castor oil leave in was heavy and I laid off that, so I guess it makes sense that the shampoo would weigh it down too. Definitely looking for a protein free extra moisturizing and lightweight formula. Thanks everyone

My hair hats protein and it ended up hating the Deva line. Way too much protein for me. It was fine for a week and then ended up making my hair a brittle mess.

Pili did you have the protein problem with the original line as well? I didn't see any obvious protein inredients in the cleansers except for the delight line

I should add the caveat that my hair is extremely sensitive to any protein or protein acting ingredient.

So I researched around a bit and ending up buYing the Maui shampoo and Conditioner for dry hair and the hair mask instead of the As I Am line. Also considered the Curls Blueberry Bliss line but no dice. I definitely wanted to avoid protein and wanted something lightweight and these products didnt break the bank si thats always a plus. Will update after next wash:)
