View Full Version : September 2017: Coronet Bun

This is one by our Mira-Chan. It involves two braids: one bunned and the other pinned up in a coronet with the tail wrapped around the bun - how convenient!

Mira-Chan's original photo tutorial. (https://web.archive.org/web/20080813144951/http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=62)

Video makers, how about a tutorial for this!

I love this style! I'm thinking of trying a variation where you lace-braid in some bits from the front...

I only wish I had enough hair to do this.

sarahlabyrinth, that style shows off the lovely variations in your color to great effect!

Wildcat Diva, just like a fairytale (but the cool kind, with lots of swords ;))! I see some sort of ornamental pins (?) peeking out from the front, they're making me quite curious...

I'm about to try this, I shall return shortly with pictorial evidence if it works out!

AmberJewel, I look forward to seeing your variation.
Sarahlabyrinth, always lovely.
Great bun cage, Diva!

neko_kawaii, beautiful! and with rope braids, too.....I would spend an hour trying to make that work and probably be in tears by the end of it.....

I'm back....WITH PICTURES!! Against all odds I managed to streeeeeetch that braid around my head! I was so excited that I completely failed to notice the two pale, bushy tails poking out...And also completely failed to take a properly lit picture!

Might do this in a couple days when my braidwaves aren't looking too great!

Rope braids are faster than three strand braids!

Thank you! :o They seem like they would be a bear to pin to the top of the head, though. Or am I just bad at pinning? Either way, they take about 30 seconds to turn into bottlebrushes whenever I do them, so any tidy-looking rope braid style is highly impressive in my book! :toofers:

No harder to pin that a three stand braid, just takes practice I expect. All braids turn into bottle brushes on my unless they are pinned up immediately, so I wear coronets regularly.

Everyone's versions look great!

On and the tutorial. :D I should reupload the pictures so I can get it available on here without the wayback machine some time.

I only wish I had enough hair to do this.

Your hair might be long enough if you do two thinner braids from either side and cross them at the top of the head.

First time trying this today and I love it!

Edited to add: I am not quite to hip yet and didn't have enough length to go all the way around so I did two braids.

I think this particular hairstyle is enough to make me want to work harder to grow my hair longer!
