I have a friend who wants to learn how to bun her hair she says like mine. She is a super curly, almost ringlets at APL length. It is also pretty thick. I am thinking it will be too thick to LWB and maybe too short. Any suggestions?

Is it APL stretched or unstretched, because that will make a difference in what styles she will be able to do.

She could try making smaller buns, how about double buns?

I think a disc bun might work well at that length.or a braided bun

She may be able to get a pha bun to work. I was also thinking double buns, maybe. I've been able to secure two LWB's with one long stick and it looked super cool - I just made one bun, secured it, made the second bun right next to it, and slid most of the rest of the stick through the first one so I could secure the second one, too.

She could try starting off with a braid or two (no need to braid it to the end), then incorporate them with the rest of the hair and do a simple braided bun, maybe like this (https://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=85471173) or like this (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/7b/05/88/7b0588a2f00942d334fe8f04575bc122.jpg) or like a simplified Ellingwoman bun (http://i.imgur.com/zEwcHXU.png), for example. I find this kind of easy sectioning allows to control hair that may still be too short to bun otherwise.

I could do a cinnamon bun and secure it with just hair sticks last time my hair was APL, but I'd grown out a pixie without trimming, so it was pretty heavily layered.

Peacock twist, French twist, Gibson tuck. Let her try those first. APL is going to be too short if it's thick & curly at that length. At least that's what I think.

Yes, these are the best suggestions at this length.
