I need to take some time and go through the various lists and highlight the styles we haven't done yet as I'm no longer finding them at a glance.

This is a bun + pony that I came up while to display curled ends. I don't remember why my ends were curled, but I liked them and didn't want to wear my hair down to keep them around (they wouldn't have lasted that way anyhow). It is based on a bun that Hypnotica made and I can never remember the name of, and allows you to choose how much length you want in that pony. Could be a little like I did, or as much as you like. It also gives you some control over the placement of the pony.

So, what to call it?

Well it's looking like an equilibrium bun with the tail left out.

My twist of double length isn't long enough to go that far back around. The opening on mine is at the top instead of at 7:00... so I stabbed the stick through that part first.

I would call it an equilibrium with a tail. Very pretty, I'm curling my ends now, to try it.

Very pretty! Might be able to do a tiny one haha.

Edit: Just as I suspected! I can't wrap the twist around so I just folded it in half, basically. Looks cute though. Doesn't feel very secure on my 3rd day hair.

(I'm just now realizing the amount of lint on my shirt)

IŽd name it cinnabun variation?

I call it the Mullet bun. Business on the top, party at the bottom

With my straight stick hair and VERY thin fairy tail ends I do not think this would make me feel very pretty. Looks cute on you Neko.

I'd call it whatever Hypnotica called it, and add "tail version", "ponytail variation" or something like that.

This bun doesn't work well for me. (I can't make cinnabuns either?) I wear my ends out of Pha and Nautilus buns pretty often when my ends are dyed though!

Here's an old picture, for fun:

I tried it and I like it a lot! It will probably join my list of daily basics. I like it with the tail slightly longer

PS Would it be a huge faux pas to resurrect some of the older threads? They seem like a nice list of simple basic styles, yet if feels awkward to post in a "hairstyle of January" if it's August

That looks lovely! ETA: And that stick!! What is it, where's it from, would I be able to get one too? lol

I don't think it would be, technically, but I'd personally just post any pics in the "post your hair pics here" thread with a reference to the hairstyle of the month I was trying out. But that's just because I'd be too nervous to post in the wrong place, and that thread is never the wrong place if it's a hair picture

Looks great on you!

I did this before I found out about LHC and other buns, but instead of my hand I'd use a stick, and keep wrapping until it was tight enough, then roll just the same, and stick the hairstick somewhere.

Corvana thanks, the stick is actually wiccan wand, clear quarz and rose quarz are supposed to have good properties for spiritual practices. Also, they look good and are smooth enough to be worn in hair :D The wood is ebony. This one is from "Magic and Wonders", I've got a similar one from "Hanuman gemstones" as well. They both sell through facebook pages, but I've got them at a festival.

Oh, now I see, that my photo was replaced with a random screenshot. Looks like I still haven't found a good replacement for tinypic

I'm not sure I did this right...I went for swirly elegance, and ended up with this triquetra-esque creature (didn't leave any tail out because I'm looking for a comfy, everyday protective bun to add to the rotation).
