In my constant search to get less frizzies and more volume to my hair I recently came upon this product (https://ahnesti.com/authoriti-whipped-paste/). I tend to keep a narrow fringe in front and lately I've been wearing it up, kind of like Tilda here https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/files/2010/06/24/4/192/1922153/aa047fb3d14e0de3_Tilda-Swinton.jpg in an effort to get some height. The paste works pretty good for this and, and long as I keep the front short, it stays up without any other kind of product. As a side effect, my frizzies are more under control. I like the stuff so much I recently decided to try this (http://www.sallyhershberger.com/products/superiority-complex-texturizing-paste). It hasn't gotten here though so I don't know if it will be as good.

Anyway, I've been wondering if anyone else uses this stuff and, if so, what kind and how do you like it?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, I have a cheap tub of matte hair paste from Sally's that I use when my frizz gets out of control. It's very thick, I just use a tiny bit, warm it up in my hands and smooth my hair down. I definitely have to wash it out that night or the next day though, but it's not a huge deal. I actually get much more use of it now at almost-butt-length than I ever did at pixie (....which is when I bought the tub... I should probably get a new one. That was like 4 years ago)

I do notice that my hair needs washing earlier if I use too much. Hoping to find a way around that.

I use Garnier Pixie Play- Hair Paste (http://www.garnierusa.com/products/styling/texturizing/paste/pixie-play-crafting-cream.aspx); the newer version that is out.

I have had mine tins for years lol, and was first called 'texture cream'....then 'finishing paste' (what I have now).

They said it did have a 24 hour hold...I noticed it was determined by the amount used.

For my front wispy silvers, I use a dab warmed and then worked in for control...or into the length if I need some grab for a style and my hair is slippery.

That stuff looks interesting and it's really reasonably priced. I might have to get some to check out. The ingredients in these products seem like they'd be a little moisturizing. I can't imagine that they'd cause damage like hairspray. I don't really think they're gluing things together and they don't make my hair rigid.

I have a few "artisan" pomades from shaving soap companies. They are marketed towards guys, but I use them whenever I do victory rolls.
One is a matte clay paste, one is very much like vaseline, and one is a hybrid of the two.

I rarely use the clay one, because it has the unfortunate tendency to make my hair look both oily and dry at the same time.

I usually use the hybrid one all over and the vaseline-like one on the ends before I roll up the sections. A tiny tiny bit rubbed between my first 2 fingers on each hand and smoothed down the section of hair. Repeat with an even smaller amount of the 2nd on the last 3/4 inch or so.

I have to wash it out that night or the next day at the latest, or my hair takes on an early 90's grunge look.

I don't find the Garnier products damaging.... the hair spray which is very natural and light; no build up.
The paste has a nice hold and as the day goes on it leaves you with texture and the next day ...gone....and for my fine silver that's saying a lot lol.
The one Garnier exception was the products that had argan oil; that stained my hair (shea moisture too) = no argan oil for me :tmi:

When I had a shorter pixie and was spiking it up/wearing it up, I used a product marketed towards men called FIBER (https://www.americancrew.com/products/style/fiber). It's got an amazing texture to it and remains pliable so that as the day goes on you can tweak it and get it back to where you want it or restyle a bit to suit your mood.
