View Full Version : Show me your buns using 4 prong forks.

Many of us have four prong forks but I do not see them in action very often. What are the best buns to use a 4 prong fork in. I immediately think of Arete's signature pic which is a figure 8 with a 4 prong. I think we could also talk about the pro's and con's of 4 prong forks.

I am going to try figure 8, Hypno bun and what ever else I can think of.

while I have made a few of these I tend to grab a three pronger most of the time.

Hope some of you will join me in this thread.

Most often I use 4-prongs in left-handed twisted and/or braided spidermom's or L-infinity buns. Those are the only two buns that reliably hold for any length of time at my current length (approaching TBL, blunt hemline). Possibly more intricate braided buns might also work, but I prefer a do that takes < 20 seconds to complete.

Don't ask me why the left-handed versions hold better than right, it just so happens.

Your bright multicolored fork is quite unusual and arresting, and looks great in your hair.

I only have one four prong fork, but I like to use it to cinimon buns. Here is a link to a picture: https://instagram.com/p/BLC291_Dck8/ (I'm not sure how to add a picture from my phone!). I also like doing an orchid bun with it.

Nice, I think a four pronger would be good in an orchid bun too. I will try that soon.

i have a preference for 4 prong forks and also 2 pronged forks worn as pairs (so does that count as a 4 prong? :p) I've tried 3 prongs made by my favorite fork makers and i just don't like them as much! My current favorite for 4 pronged forks is Good Village Woodcraft, i don't see mention of them on the board much these days but they are excellent! One i have: https://www.etsy.com/listing/220862083/natural-finished-curved-4-prong-hair I can wear one tomorrow and bring photographic evidence! :) I wear them in a cinna-ish bun high up on my head. I've noticed that the longer my hair gets, the higher up my bun placement goes due to weight.

and i love your rainbow fork!

Thanks for jumping in Hele, and thanks for the recommendation of the Good Village Woodcraft shop.
question, When you wear two, two prong forks do you wear them in parallel? Would love to see some pics of both the 4 prong and the two prongs doubled.

Another 4 prong Rainbow fork in a figure eight which I have not really worn out before, only house practiced.
I think this will hold all day.

When I use two 2-prongs, I parallel them with one going left to right and the other the opposite way.

Duh! Never mind....just read the description. Darn, My figure 8's never look that good!

I am wearing a clip in hair piece that gives me more fullness, which is why I think it turned out so well. I usually wear one when I dress up and for church.

Thanks Sarah so full and lovely.

question, When you wear two, two prong forks do you wear them in parallel? Would love to see some pics of both the 4 prong and the two prongs doubled.

when i wear two i have them crossed in the bun, like this:

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/hair%20things/20170627_155252_resized%20432x640_zpscyxnkell.jpg

it seems to lock everything in place, it's sturdier than just a 4 prong. Here it is in action, my head is tipped back 'cause i made the bun really high and i was trying to get both forks to show.

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/hair%20things/20170627_155033_resized%20433x640_zpsabnydvuk.jpg

here's my cinna-ish bun with a 4 prong, as with all my buns it never looks quite like it's supposed to. :p

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/hair%20things/20170627_153007_resized%20447x640_zps7vmdm1o4.jpg

i also wear forks with my attempt at a nautilus bun, this one definitely never comes out looking like any of the nautiluseseseses i see on here. But whatever it is, it sure stays put!

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/hair%20things/20170627_154415_resized%20409x640_zpsoxbskbf9.jpg

and a side view. I like this bun because it looks more compact, and most people don't realize my hair is as long as it is when it's worn this way. Plus it shows more fork. Although that did lead once to someone at work asking me why i was walking around with 4 pencils in my hair. :rolling:

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/hair%20things/20170627_154645_resized%20438x640_zpslxpzo7pu.jpg

whoo, that's enough of my messy hair day pictures.

i had to work to find the fork in some of your pictures Sarahlabyrinth, it was hidden in all that hair!

That bocote fork is lovely bpbarnell! Bocote is one of the prettiest woods, IMO. And you have a great collection going there.

I'll post a pic of my four-pronged bun as soon as I can get on the computer! I love four pronged forks, there's something about the way they look that is so pleasing, both in action and on their own. Maybe it's the balance of sturdiness and elegance.

That grey fork is a custom made for me from GoodVillageWoodcraft on Etsy and is one of my favourite forks. I had it made so it would blend with my silvering hair.

The hypno bun is wonderfully stable and you can stretch it out to make it bigger. It looks wonderfully elaborate but is easy to do. The perfect combination in a bun! Plus you could wear your coloured extensions with it/as part of it too :crush:

This thread is so dangerous-I broke a hair fork the other day and now thanks to everyone's beautiful pictures I think it's only right to replace it with a four pronged one.

Bparnell75 your fork collection is something to be envied and that shade of hair is beautiful. Sarahlabryinth your hair colour is incredible, it looks a slightly different tone in every picture, and so thick too.

I have hair that tends to slip out of buns using sticks unless it's braided, so firm hold would be perfect. Not that I'm trying to justify a potential purchase to myself or anything . . .

Five prong Elymwold which I love to pieces; however, my hair is so fine and thin the only way I can get away with it is to make two hypnobuns side-by-side, one on top of the other.

The more prongs on the toy the better the hold. I think we could make a definitive statement! and yes I agree the 4 prong forks do make the bun structure look a little different. This months "hairstyle the Artemis bun" Was tutorial-ed with a 5 prong fork.
I have never made a 5 prong fork....Just think it would be a little much for my thin hair.

bparnell, the way I make double hypnobuns is to part may hair like I was doing a half-up. Then I make one bun with the top part and one with the bottom part- one above the other but close together so that the edges touch. Then I put one fork through the whole shebang. It's the only way I can use the wider forks in my thin hair.

sometimes, my hair is very slippery (I haven't found a directly responsible product/treatment/behavior yet) so that only four prong forks hold my buns and stay in my hair (without me having to wrapp my bun so thight I have a Facelifting as byproduct  )

most of the buns I get to hold with a stick or flexi also hold with a fork, but some buns only hold with a fork for me :)

I need to make one like that, with the little bit of carving too. Thank you. I will revisit this album again. I also noticed you even did my Spock bun. Thanks for jumping in Hele, and thanks for the recommendation of the Good Village Woodcraft shop.

Good to see Jim is back doing forks...he had stopped for a while
I have a beautiful 2 prong lacewood that was bought back in 2014.

Great pics and buns everyone

I wonder if I can manage a 4 prong now that I have gained thickness and am growing back out to Hip :hmm: :eyebrows:

This is the only 4 prong I have at the moment. I got it from Before The Eye on Etsy. Its a bit big for me still I think, but I'll grow into it I hope. Its 4 prong, but the last one got buried in my hair. Still learning how to use it, so far can only cinnibun it.

Sorry for posting one more time, I don't think I'm allowed to edit yet?

I just thought of something: could we post some sources of 4 prong forks? I've been scouring the net trying to find some unique ones. I think now that I've gotten to experiment with some different kinds of hair toys, 4 prongs are my favorite because they are the least fussy, but it seems hard to find a good variety of them? I just bought 2 antler ones form the Yurich in Ukraine, and 2 wood ebony ones from Over The Hawaiian Moon. Would love to know of others out there. Finally figuring out how to get my hair up this year is what saved me from cutting it! Florida heat will make you hate your hair, man!

I just love them. My first was a horn one from Amazon seller MaryCrafts, its kinda cheaply made, glued together pieces of horn, and I already broke it because the prongs are a bit shot and it flipped out of my hair. But that was the one that got me hooked.

You make them? Whoa! How cool is that? Just for yourself or do you sell them somewhere? (I sew, but just for me- and my husband but only if he asks nicely) you made all these in the images? That's so awesome.

Yes, Over The Moon was lighting, he shipped same day and its already almost here. Amazing. I saw Jeter, they look really nice, I was worried there wasn't much space between prongs though- if that would work with my hair thickness.

These are all great makers though! So, Etsy is about it for most hair things? I kept hoping there was some hidden source hehe!

Woooah Crystawni, so many amazing forks! I love the GTS on the top row and the Jeter in the middle on the fifth row. And those two other light coloured ones, one is a Jeter and the other I'm not sure. That light wood - maple? - looks incredible against your hair.

Thank you! :flowers:

bp, anything that's like a hand holding your bun is bound to work well. :p

Jeters (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=77242) work like a hand with fingers spread, so are my faves (thus my crop of them). GVW (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=120225) have very sharp points (not good around littlies) and are more delicate. GTS (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=28667&highlight=grah) can be a bit unwieldy if the balance is off (I don't have the two holly ones any more--one was a bit much for my style, and the other got too small). Elymwolds (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=90403) can get their tilt on, too, if not in balance mode, and the Schnitty (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=115849) fork (top right) is a dream as it's so light and has brilliant hold (as do his 2 and 3 prong forks). As these are just screenshots of my 4 prongers, bigger pics of most of them are in the maker's threads that I've linked to.

The lightish woods in the bottom 2 rows of the lineup are figured Hawaiian koa (https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/197464235/4-prong-figured-hawaiian-koa-wood-hair?ref=) (Jeter 5th row--since rehomed), lignum vitae (https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/193014959/reserved-for-sarah-two-4-prong-hair?ref=) (GVW last row), maple (https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/230645719/4-prong-maple-wood-hair-fork?ref=) (Jeter, last row) and osage orange (https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/506418422/4-prong-osage-orange-wood-hair-fork?ref=) (Jeter, last row).

Crystawni- agreed, that is an amazing collection! I'm jealous! What's the one that's 3rd row down, 3rd one in?

I had briefly heard of Elymwolds and Shnitty's forks, seems they are both on hiatus right now :( I saw that owl one he made, hope they come back in September. I was eyeballing the Jeter forks- they aren't rough? It seemed there was more wood grain texture evident in the pictures, so hard to tell over the net.

Diva, I love the whole picture! All the amethyst is lovely.

Ah! I cant wait for my others to get here, feels like its taking forever. Anyone know any sources for some 4 prong antler or bone offerings beyond Etsy? (Or any other material that's interesting?)

Crystawni
August 11th, 2017, 02:53 AM
Ta muchly, Linz! The 3/3 fork is another Elymwold, made with Tasmanian blackwood, dyed myrtle burl and an inlay of New Zealand rimu. Nigel at Elymwold has ongoing hand issues, so it's iffy whether he'll return to making hairtoys unfortunately. And yes, Johannes should be back from his summer break in September or thereabouts. As for Jeters, they're smooth, light, and easy to wear. The wonderful grain is a bonus and can add to updo grip. I've actually altered a couple of my Jeters and polished them with a nail buffer block to a glassy smooth finish, then oiled them--they come up beautifully, but may be a little too slippery for some!

I got my Over The Hawaiian Moon forks in today. What a lovely guy he is! He sent a couple extra gifts in the package. And one of the forks had a slightly (me being obsessive) rough end I asked about and he told me exactly how to finished it off and what materials to use to keep it nice for a long time. They are really wide forks but I like the thin tines, they slide in and out of hair pretty easily but seem to stay put pretty well. The long ebony wood one might be a tad large on me yet, but I'll grow into it. And the short curved rose wood one is a dream, it super comfy. I kind of wish the longer one was also curved, but its fine. They are both really nice craftsmanship too.

'Scuse the massive frizz. I was outside all day in the Florida humidity.

So I'm interested to know too- preference? Do you all tend to pick say tines that are the width of the bun or do you like them dramatically longer? Why? Preference for width of the tines?

Oh and you're making me want that SS Quattro (right?) one now, it looks super comfy.

And yes, bun styles! I am such a bun newbie, thats the only one I can do with a 4 prong fork.

Much depends on the texture of your hair. Mine needs very long prongs. Non-straight and wide prongs are better for me than thin straight ones. Your hair is curlier and thicker than mine, so you might want prongs that are thinner and wider-spaced. If the fork has no head-curve, you will also want slightly longer prongs.

Crystawni
August 14th, 2017, 11:10 PM
MPM, defs a winnah! Now stop trying to enable me, will ya. :p

Linz, your new forks look beautiful! As for your questions, I tend to go for shorter prongs on my wider forks so they don't peek out too much (I like them to marry into the updo), or so they can be used in centreheld buns as a central focal point. Whereas I prefer more length on 2 prongers as I use them for loopier, longer looking buns. I also have to take the fork material into consideration--metal forks don't consume too much hair space, so shorter works fine. And as Cg said, hair texture comes into fork decisions, as well as hair volume and length, skin allergies (to metal, wood, too much hair in one spot), climate (swelling of woods making it grabbier or harder to use)...

Here's the smaller 4 prong holly GTS that I no longer have, snuggling into a centreheld bun.

Oh, they look so elegant yet wistful in your hair, Linz! Are they top-heavy with the shorter tines, or is the balance okay?

Thank you! I forgot to mention I loved that holly one you had up top too! I was eyeballing GTS but they seem so heavy.

They are a bit top heavy, but they are light all around because they're made out of antler. The leafy one has 3'' swervy prongs so it holds itself in pretty well, the leaf shapes catch in my hair though. The other one has even shorter prongs but its also super light with he cut outs. I think they maybe wouldn't work for like and all day I'm moving around a lot kind of wear, but they would be good for a night out or a dressy occasion. More I think- I'm afraid to do my hair too tight and without the longer prongs to hold them selves in the other side of my hair they can tend to work themselves out. But man, they are so pretty. Its kind of bitter sweet, I think they are made with the intention for someone with either shorter or thinner hair than me.

You'll find holly is very, very light, so even in a GTS fork, there's no worry with weight.

I get you with all points on those forks. They do seem to be something you'd wear for a special occasion (senorita style) or frolicking in the garden :p, with maybe extra ponytail security via a hairtie and a tine threaded through it in case they get caught on something and take a dive. They really are very pretty and suit you!

And now I have a 4 prong Figured Hawaiian Koa (https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/240574443/reserved-for-molly-4-prong-figured?ref=) back in the Jeter flock that I snagged off the swap board. (I used to have a rounded top version.)

:scissors:

I love the way koa shimmers and glows as it plays with the light. :heartbeat

Oh. My! That's an absolutely stunning fork, and you clearly took the photos in a great light because it really shows off the Koa's iridescence. (Or should that be chatoyance?) Just gorgeous :crush::crush::crush: As a violin/violist I'd always thought the most beautiful wood was figured maple - there are some truly jaw-dropping instruments out there - but wow, it turns out it has nothing on Koa!

(Also I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I adore your hair colour! It's truly beautiful, and unusual, the like of which I've never seen before. I so enjoy seeing photos of your hair :flower:)

:flowers: Thank you very muchly, MusicalSpoons! :o The figured woods definitely have moods that outshine all others, but I have a soft spot for all woods (I even married a wood-loving carpenter! :D). As a fellow muso, I also have an appreciation of woods for instruments (for sound depth and quality as well as visual). My bass has a pretty, although this pic was more about the ghostly fingers.

Crystawni that's a beautiful bass! Which wood is that? Since starting to use wooden hairtoys (which I never knew existed before I found LHC) I've come to appreciate all woods too - I was sanding a flatpack pine bookshelf a few months ago and was very taken with the chatoyance that was coming through; I never knew pine could do that before! My green sandalwood comb has changed colour over the months I've been using it, which I love, and still smells just as gorgeous, and who knew a wood called purpleheart existed?! It turns out there are so many beautiful, wonderful woods - and they all have their own beauty, especially when they're well-worked

Um, back to the topic ... ... I think I need to learn some more buns, so I can justify buying a four-pronged fork! There are some great ideas on this thread.

Thanks, Dendra and MusicalSpoons! I bought that bass second hand from the music shop, so unfortunately don't know the timber but the grain is beautifully chatoyant. I do know it's a rosewood fretboard, though. :p

Crystawni, that is another gorgeous bun, the warm and cool colors of the fork really suit your hair.

I was dropping by to ask some advice. I have two 3 prong forks, but none with 4 prongs. I was ogling some 4 prong Jeterforks and can't decide what length to get... For some reason in my mind it would be better to get a longer fork, since the updo will have to be a bit looser to accommodate extra prongs? My usual fork length happy spot is 5" total length, 4" FPL. Should I perhaps get a half inch longer? I'm concerned about it because I am very prone to not reaching for sticks and forks that I think look too long. Any advice on whether more prongs = more length needed? Or am I crazy? :p

Crystawni
September 1st, 2017, 05:08 PM
Thanks, Zesty! :smooch: And no, you're not crazy! I used to think the same thing about longer is better, but in practice I find the opposite--the more prongs and width to the fork, the less fpl is needed. For me, I use 4 to 4.5" fpl on most of my 4 prongers, although a couple have 5" that apart from an Elymwold, are on the narrower side of things. Width comes into play as the forks are rectangular, but buns tend to be oval or round, so with more prongs on a wider fork, it can mean weird prong show on the edges of the bun. If you think of the 4 prongers as little hands holding your head, you'll see there's more grab-zone, so not as much need for length-balance in the fork grabbing the centre and pinning the edges, if that makes sense. When it comes to 4 prong Jeters, I actually like a 4" fpl that snuggles into the bun where a 4.5" fpl, like the koa from a few days ago, and the Elymwold from yesterday, is my happy zone.

bparnell75
September 1st, 2017, 06:02 PM
Zesty, I think it also depends on the type of bun you make. May of my buns are oval in shape like the horizontal pha, Spock bun and the Wispe-Palmier.
These require at least 5 inches. Center held buns like LWB or Cinnabun can probably use the shorter ones. So think about your go to buns. I notice Crystawani almost always has a round bun of some sort. I don't care much for round buns. Hope that helps.

Crystawni
September 1st, 2017, 06:30 PM
I do go rounder in the bun dept. for forks with more prongs. My loopy buns that spread across my head are better with longer 2 prongers thanks to hair volume.

Zesty
September 2nd, 2017, 05:59 AM
I'm a lazy LWB-er, all the way. :p That and a folded braid are my go-to updos. But if Crystawni can do a 4" FPL with her greater volume of hair, I am probably safe. Off to shop... :o

Crystawni
September 2nd, 2017, 06:13 AM
Just for a visual, these 4 prongers of mine in the Jeter thread in May are 4" fpl in LWBs.

Jeters were my first hair forks when my hair was around BSL, and are still my go-to when it comes to understated wooden forks. They just work effortlessly for me, with no drag, snags or rotation. And the colour and grain... Well...

potsie, I use a variety of hairtoys for a variety of hairstyles, but find good* forks hold the best for buns.

*good comes down to weight, balance, size, quality of finish, material used, spacing of prongs and how even that is, ease of slide and hold among other things.

I just got a four prong fork, and I think I may be a convert? Not that that's saying too much, since I can only do half-ups and so far have only tried a 2 prong, a spiral stick, a flexi, and the 4 prong  But it holds very nicely! Tomorrow I'll try to take a picture of this tiny thing actually holding a whole bun.

I'm guessing that APL will be my sweet spot for a full cinnabun with this fork. Too much longer and I'll outgrow it (it's got a 3" FPL), but right now I can't tuck my ends effectively and their explosion is too much for the poor thing!

My hair is at a stage now where the centres of LWBs and nautilus buns fall out after a few hours, and wispy face-framing layers sneak out here and there. So I'm pleased this held fairly well, and if I do the centre a bit tighter it should hopefully last a little longer :)

Oh, I replied to your PM bparnell, but didn't realise you were hoping for a deep arc. I've noticed furnival (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/member.php?u=33646) has been using steam to curve her forks, which means the grain retains its integrity. If the bandsaw causes too much chatter in the wood because of the smallness of the tines and lack of support, then switch to a hand saw. I’d cut the head curve with the band saw for sure. Cutting that by hand is a lot of work (been there).

Oh the pretties, Crystawni!

I've posted this fork before (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=143304&page=15&p=3477134&highlight=Purpleheart#post3477134), but not worn it for a long time because it ended up too short for a LWB, my go-to 4-prong bun. But recently I tried a nautilus again, which worked better than any other attempted nautilus (even double-wrapped, the centre falls out regardless of what I'm securing it with - stick, fork, flexi, nothing holds! except a 4-prong Jeter, so far) so tried this fork again. And it's held, rock-solid all day so far, and I don't even feel the bun's there :D

Magnificent! The bun and the fork are just lovely. Perhaps I will try making some more 4 prong forks this summer.

I can't believe I never discovered this thread!

Crystawni's gorgeous collage a few pages back inspired me to try to make one of my own. :p I'm not particularly creative with the buns; a Nautilus, LWB, or Spock bun a majority of the time.

Does anyone else have more photos to share?

WHOA your collage is stunning!
Totally picture frame worthy :D

For some reason it seems 4 prongs aren't as common as 3, but I think I like 4 better

daisy rei you’ve sold me on 4 prong forks! Your collage is stunning! Beautiful hair toys and beautiful buns! Thanks for sharing. Heading off to do some dreaming at Etsy.

Super interesting thread. I like the look of 4 prong forks and daisy rey, your collage looks awesome. I have a four prong fork but I'm not sure how to use it. When I try to make an lwb with it, it looks totally out of place. How do you insert the fork? Do you put it differently through the loops than a more narrow fork?

Ooh that's an excellent collage! I have photos to share, I just need to gather them - making a collage will be so much simpler to post than posting multiple pics here :D

The 3 similar topped forks on the bottom row, by what maker are they? I can identify most of your others but I've never seen that type before.

Aw, thank you! I definitely prefer 4 prongs but there's something about them that seems ~fancy~ so I rarely ever reach for them.

Thank you! Always glad to help with the enablement; let me know if you need recommendations. :p

Thank you! I don't really change anything about my LWB except to wrap it a little looser and I use the bottommost tine of the fork to "drag" the first loop (where you'd normally shove the stick) downwards so that it stretches wide enough to fit the rest of the fork in. Hopefully that made sense.

I await your photos with baited breath! ;) Especially any photos of Jeters since there's been such a drought around here with the shop closed.
Those three forks are actually 60thstreets! The shape is called "Annie" and it's one of my favorite fork designs ever. It has such a fun, retro, kind of seventies vibe, especially with the laminated woods. Jan told me that apparently there are far fewer Annies in existence but I do have my own little hoard of them now, haha.

Far out, daisy rei, that's a superb collage, and it not only shows the big, shiny buns but how the forks differ (prong spacings and widths, topper sizes, etc.)! Love it!

I haven't shared any 4 prong newness in here for a couple of years. In that time, my hair grew to FTL, then I de-layered it back to BCL earlier this year, so my buns have morphed a teeny bit. I'm back to TBL (and don't want shorter as my fave Celtic Knot bun had become a Celtic Cockatoo Spray), and have some 4 prongers incoming, so may return at a later date to share some more pics.

Finda, do you mean it looks tilted, at an angle? I was given a beautiful 4 prong jeta from Tiny Ponies and when I first tried it on a nautilus it wouldn’t lie flat. I’m not sure if this helps your issue, but I found pushing the fork in a bit below the loop, so not directly on top but sort of in the middle made it lie flatter :)

Here’s my effort. Bit messy and sorry about the glamorous buff, it’s cold! Due to my ineptitude, I find it a tad harder to push the fork through my bun than a single stick. However once in place it is so comfortable because of the force distribution, and it doesn’t budge all day :flower:

Thanks for your answer, and yes, it made sense :) I think the fork in question might be too wide or my hair not long enough for it yet. The fork fits fine through the first loop which I wrap around my entire hand. The second, however, is usully a bit smaller because the hair is only wrapped around the thumb and when I make the loop larger, I don't have enough hair left to wrap around the base.

Thank you as well :) That is also part of the problem, yes. I need to give your advice a try. Maybe I'll get it to work. I also find it hard to push through the base.
Your picture looks really cool. Is that a Nautilus? And the fork is very nice, too.

A general question, are your 4 prong forks the same size as your 2 and 3 prongers or can the length be shorter?

Sarahlabyrinth seems to have a technique by which she can secure buns without necessarily going through the holes on the loops, but I have no idea how she achieves it!

More prongs usually means more width so can be shorter, yes. I find for centreheld buns the same prong length can work for 3 and 4-prong forks but in other buns usually 3-prongers need to be longer.

Thanks Finda yes it’s my version of a nautilus, I wrap around fingers not hand. I find the jeta really grabs the hair so it can be quite a push to get it through but is so comfy when it’s in. My hair has a bit of a wave to it and with WO there’s sebum, so getting the prong out the other side of the bun is a bit of an arm workout. I can’t do a bun drop, when I take the stick / fork out the bun remains intact!

I had sort of hoped for such a technique, maybe she sees this :)
Okay, thanks, that was my assumption. Maybe I need to be on the lookout for something less monstrous. Because even if I get it to hold it looks a tad bit overpowering ;)

Ah, from the picture it also lools like the individual prongs are a bit wider? Although I have never tried a jeter myself. The WO routine sounds interesing, I have to say, though, my hair can get so tangled sometimes that a bundrop is also not always happening ;)
