I did Arwen’s Battle Braid! I have been planning on doing this for years but always put it off for various reasons, including but not limited to, it is too complicated, it will take too long, I can’t French braid very well, my hair is too short (I’ve been planning it for many years), French braids hurt my head if I wear them too long, etc. I started at around 10:30 and did not finish until around 1:03. I took a 10 minute break in the middle to give my arms a rest and I had a few braiding breaks for pictures.
I followed Haartraum’s YouTube tutorial, Haartraum Arwen Braid Variation inkl. Bänder but I left out the ribbons partially because I think the braid is really cool looking on its own and partially because I couldn’t find any of my hair ribbons that would have been long enough. My French braids are kind of loose and I had difficulty in separating the strands for them properly. I also had difficulty in trying to keep my braids even in size. While I was doing all the little braids the braids I had done previously started getting in my way so I put them up in a weird lazy wrap bun using a hair stick and I wrapped the rest of the braids up around it as I finished them.

It's stunning! Great work!!! :applauseI actually like it that some braids are thinner and some a bit thicker, it makes the final braid lively looking!

Thank you, Arctic. It was somewhat frustrating trying to get them even because I can't really tell until I've braided a bit what size the braids will be, and there was no way I was going to redo any of the braids with the amount of braiding I had to do. It also made getting the tension of the 9 strand right difficult.

That is so amazing, and the braided length is impressive!! I tried something very similar a few years ago with classic length (and thinner) hair, but it was nowhere near as awesome as this.:p (There's a pic of it in one of my older albums, I don't wanna hijack this thread though:))

Thank you, _fred_, ghanima, embee, Sarahlabyrinth, CindyOfTheOaks, Corvana Aredhel, Serimel, and vpatt. I really appreciate all the compliments.
Aredhel, your braid looks lovely.
Serimel, It took me 2 1/2 hours from start to finish with a 10 minute break and some breaks for photos.
vpatt, my arms nearly did fall off in the braiding until I figured out a way to position my elbows on my hips while braiding the ends.

I'm in awe! Just gobsmackingly, intricately beautiful. I agree with the others, the different sized braids add interest and depth. I also think you didn't need ribbons. That would be a distraction from your gorgeous hair.

Fantastic!

Ahh thanks ladies!!:flower:

This does eat up quite a bit of your length though doesn't it? It just occurred to me that your hair is as long as I am tall.:thud:

2) omg, that's a lot of hair being restrained

Thank you for the compliments, Aunt Rapunzel, EmbracetheHippy, Kitty-Zen, Rebeccalaurenxx, Wavelength, yahirwaO.o, Borgessa, Dante, Simsy, and Dendra.

You’re welcome, Aredhel. My hair is nearly as long as I am tall. The ends that I pinned up under my braid were about 1 ½ feet long. I went from having my longest hairs brushing my ankles loose to having a tailboneish length braid.

Gorgeous! I have no words, just wow!!! And if you take the two braids at the top sections, that is like my entire hair! I think your hair needs a new thickness categorie, like V or something!

HaMalka How do you braid them all together? I watched her video but it was so confusing seeing her braiding them all together.

WOW!! That is positively breathtaking! I agree that the hair alone is so pretty that there's no need for ribbons.
