I was researching 3 inch jumbo rollers to straighten my hair without heat, and ran across this. I think it's a great idea, although I'd use strips of satin rather than towels.

Also an off topic question. Does anyone with hip+ hair still roller set it?

Some people are so creative, that's an awesome idea! I'm hip+ and find it hard to use even larger rollers, I always end up tangling my hair but it might be due to flaws in my technique...

These look like a great idea. Thanks for telling us about it. I agree that satin would work best. I haven't been using curlers because I worry over how comfortable it would be. I'd also have to practice to use them effectively.

I remember one of our members had a similar idea, let me see if I find the thread.

I worried about that as well, seeing as I prefer the air drying route. Pool noodles are pretty soft though so I think they'll be pretty comfortable to sleep in.

Will do. :)

I'm planning to grow my curly hair longer but I like the idea of roller setting it straight rather than using heat.

I love the technique mentioned in that link. I think I have some pool noodles and odd matching socks somewhere to try this out.

There's also the ones lilith moon used, I ordered from the link she gave years ago, but I don't know if they still are available. They look like this:

Very nice! They look too soft to truly straighten my hair though :/.

That is a great idea Likelikepenny thank you for sharing.
If you have the velcro rollers you can remove the velcro and use the inner rings to set. As with the silk ties you might create some tangles. Just an idea.

I personally have not removed any. But yes you can.

ETA: Just make sure there are no snags on them

I been using 2" mesh rollers to dry my hair for decades, it's the only way my coarse hair looks good, air drying is out of the question, tried everything suggested on LHC without any luck. I know I'm stuck in a time warp!

I've mentioned this elsewhere:
Toilet paper tubes, leave some paper on if you want em bigger.
The flexibility and "give" allows for firm, smooth rolling with the endpapers being part of the roller.
And they're essentially free.

They won't be able to used on damp hair :/. Sounds great for adding body to dry hair though!
