Sorry, if this thread has already been made, but I've been curious about J.R.R Tolkien (author of LOTR series) wife's hairstyle for a long while.

Edith was the one who inspired Tolkien to create Arwen and Luthien. :)

If anyone can recreate this even if only slightly similarly, please teach me~

It's hard to make out what's going on in the back, though. Not sure how you can recreate something if you can't really see it?

That's why I said I'm fine with anything remotely similar or even an impression of the style from what little we can see. :)

Maybe it's akin to the faux bob? That would be 2 braided buns. She's got her hair tucked behind her ears, & maybe the braided buns behind there? Just a guess...

something like this maybe?

It looks like a chignon?

But the style of (what I'm assuming is) the time of 1914-1918 is a low loose bun with a center or side part, and that seems to be the closest to what Edith has in those pictures.

This chignon has the twisty side bits:

And here are some examples from 1914-1918 that I feel are pretty similar to Edith's style:

It could also be the Gibson Tuck:

Thank you pamprlyn.

And wow! Thanks for introducing me to the tucking Victorian/Edwardian bun hairstyle Corvana.
My life suddenly makes so much more sense and I'm scouring all the Gibson tutorials on youtube right now.

You're welcome!! I'm also pretty interested in trying it! Since I was making the post as I was searching, it's a little all over the place. I think the Gibson Twist is the most similar, though! It's so lovely, and either way would definitely give you that similar look!
