Usually I try to tame my curls by putting them in braids after I shower and letting them air dry, but lately I've been wanting to experiment and 'unleash the beast', haha. I'd love to embrace my natural curl.

What finishing products would you recommend that I can put on wet hair and make it a curl jungle? I'm planning to 'plop' after I shower.

Right now I wash/condition/comb twice a week with Garnier Whole Blends honey and my hair seems to really like it. I deep condition with either coconut oil or an almond/olive oil blend.

Thanks!

I would recommend the LOC/LCO method. The link is in my signature. :)

There's *tons* of products you can use under gel. I lately just put my curl creams underneath my gel, then put a little serum over top. What works is the JBCO leave-in by Shea Moisture, the Curl Enhancing smoothie, the Frizz-Taming smoothie, both by Shea Moisture, the Eden Bodyworks curl cream, the got2b "smooth operator" leave-in, the Kruidvat leave-in, and the Cantu leave-in. I have some other generic leave-ins that do fine as well. What doesn't work with gel is the Aunt Jackie's curl la la, and the Every Strand curl cream - they flake!

A good test to see if products will work underneath gel, is to combine them in the palm of your hand, and see if it "curdles" or not.

I don't use much product - that seems to also be key. I think the tighter the coil pattern the more product you can use, but I use a coinsize of cream, a coinsize of gel and a small puddle of serum for my hip+ length hair. I used the same amounts when I was classic length!

I recommend flaxseed gel to define your curls and then using a serum like the garnier fructis sleek and shine to reduce frizz.

As a LOC method at present I apply Foxy's Shea Butter Conditioning Cream (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=4586) diluted with some conditioner from ears down, and then Eco Styler Gel (https://www.amazon.fr/Eco-Styler-Coiffant-dhuile-dolive/dp/B004X8KOEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495907709&sr=8-1&keywords=gel+cheveux) on all hair. I like applying these products while I am still in the shower, on hair dripping wet. More or less like this (httphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3G_hXhoEk4&t=6s). Then I plop with a turbie twist put on the contrary.

I mix some drops of avocado oil with hair creme (the garnier ones are great) or aloe vera gel to put it on damp hair, if I'm going to wear it loose :) Gives shine, hydration and definition at the same time!

I also do loc, I use a curling cream with a gel afterward. I tried using oil then a gel, but that didnt work.
Then I tried an oil with a cream... too heavy!!
Then I tried cream with an oil and that didnt work.

But my hair likes the cream and gel combo.

So youll have to try a few things til you get it right.
Took me 6months of different "mixes" before i figured it out.
