I'm looking for ideas on face framing layers....to go with my bangs.....so when i put my hair up its not so severe looking at the front.
Does anyone have any pictures for ideas and also instructions on how to get the face framing parts cut.....I'm wondering if I should go to a hairdresser but everytime I visit one they end up wanting to take inches off my hair and I don't want to get talked into that. I'd like to be able to cut them in myself as I've managed the micro trimming myself and making good progress....so if I can sort the bangs and face framing I would be totally self sufficient hairdresser to me.
thanks for any help.

This isn't the clearest picture, but

Can you see on my cheek, the little framing section there? It was misbehaving that day but normally sat a little lower, just hitting the chin. If that's what you're going for, the way I did it was to pick a point a couple of centimeters/an inch or so back from the front hairline, section the hair down from that point to the front of each ear, and put all of that hair into a small ponytail between your eyebrows (or a little lower or higher, depending on how long you want the main forehead-section of the fringe to start out). If in doubt, go longer, you can always trim a little more after.

If that's not what you're going for, I hope someone else can help you!

I used to pull my bangs and face-framing bits out in front of my nose, holding them between 2 vertical fingers, then just cut straight in line with my fingers. Start with longer than you want to get the feel for how they fall, like a good 6 inches in front of your nose.

Take a small section in front of your ears, twist it into a tornado and cut that chunk off BELOW where you want those layers to start. It will give you perfect, even face frame. Like the front section of where a head band would sit. Nothing behind that head band line. Hope that makes sense. It should not be a lot of hair.

I haves!

I section the bangs first and cut them. Generally long, generally so they are an inverted v with the point at where I want my part. Then I brush them out to the sides and clean them up. I will take the rest of my hair down and find the pieces of hair the naturally fall into my "face framing layer" and trim them to match the bangs. The first time I cut them I had to decide what hair would be the best section for face framing. And that's it. to bad the video is long gone! :rollin:

First time I did them
