Fun tip: you can actually ask Google questions similar to this in plain English and almost always get an answer (aka I cheated and googled). I recently discovered this. For example, for this I asked "why does wet hair look darker"

If you mean when dry, then the water probably has some minerals that affect the colour. For example iron and copper can do this.
