A couple of quick questions.

Do you measure the length of wavy hair when relaxed or when pulled taut to full stretched length?

And for hair typing, is there a photo guide? I looked at the descriptions and chose what I thought fit, but after seeing other people's pics, I think I might revise that. Pics would help.

Thanks.

Here's the visual guide (http://homepage.mac.com/annsofie.henriksson/hairtyping/PhotoAlbum17.html) to help you.
It is linked in the VITs tread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=7807) if you'll need it in the future.

I have very curly hair, and I do prefer to measure it stretched out. It just makes me feel better, since it's actually very long despite the way it looks, so it give's me some comfort.

I measure stretched out. After all, it's a measurement of my hair's length, not how long it looks. Some days, my hair hangs an inch above BSL, and other days, it's a good two inches below, so obviously, measuring it wavy is totally inaccurate.

I do measure body part milestones by how it is when it's wavy, though, because I don't think it's reached it until it looks that way.

I meaure mine stretched (dry) as well. I have curly/wavy hair that's different from day to day, and I am trying to keep track of my growth.

I don't count it as truly 'waist length' or whatever until it hits there dry and curly/wavy, though.

I do not measure anymore, but I used to pull it taught. Or I would get a completely different measurement every day

Same here. I measure my hair when it is wet though. I don't think it is a very accurate measure though at all. I find that I see more growth when I look in the mirror or in photos.

I've been measuring dry, but I'm going to start measuring wet. I think it's more accurate. I measure and take pic first of every month.

I have curly hair. I measure mine while it is wet and my DH doesn't stretch but, gently pulls it straight. He measures the same way each time to ensure a more accurate number.

Thanks everyone. I will try measuring my hair taut. Before I measured it relaxed.

I also checked out the links. I am still not 100% certain where to type my hair. I do think I had put myself in too wavy a category before when I picked 2b/2c, but I'm not sure if I'm a solid 2b or a 2a/2b. My hair seems to be straighter now that it's longer than when it was shorter. I actually had spirals when it was shorter, so I had put myself in 2b/2c, but looking at the pics and considering how it looks now that it's down to my bum, well, I think I'd have to go more 2b-ish.

I think I need a picture. And to re-measure and update my info.
