Yeah, it is. Why are you combing it? You should put leave-in conditioner and let it air dry.

Yes, it is curly. It is better to comb and or brush it out in the wash (shower or sink) with conditioner in it, and then after do *not* touch with a comb or brush again until wash day. Finger detangling is OK, and re-misting too, but do *not* put a brush in your hair when it is dry. It will mess up your texture. That is the first rule for curly hair.

Maybe try it, and repost your pictures to see whether it makes a difference.

Definitely curly, but you'll want to handle it differently to really see the curls.

Next time you wash, detangle it well on the shower full of conditioner. Rinse it mostly out, wrap your hair in a T-shirt instead of a towel to get the drips, then put some gel or leave-in on it and let it air dry without further handling or combing.

Your goal here is to let it make clumps. Clumps are good. If the gel makes it overly crunchy, you can scrunch it a little, but try to keep those clumps intact.

Oh, yeah. And follow what all the above have said. It is breaking off if you dry brush/comb it. I used to do that to my hair too.

And remember, slip slip slip. Slip in a conditioner is your best friend for detangling. That and a good brush/comb are essential.

Having to learn all about curly hair. My spouse is growing theirs out and their hair would be crazy frizzy. They let it dry then brush. Now we gotten some really nice shampoo and conditioner and when they get out I'll usually rub this really nice hair butter by SHeaMoisture through their curls and comb it while still pretty wet. Then air dry. The curls are so smooth and nice now!!!

Not necessarily. I don't use conditioner, and brush/comb is optional, especially as you get curlier. Though, conditioner does seem to be the gateway to learning to love curls. Once you love them and stop fighting them, you can experiment.
