Hopefully will work this time!
I've seen a few posts recently about mixed textures, so though it might be interesting to see some of the variances we have.

This is my hair down, freshly washed and air dried, combed out. I'd say it was in about 1c on this photo, even though it's been manipulated some.

Take the canopy and wear it in a half up, and the texture underneath shows through.

Despite the combing, there are still lots of waves, far more than show with the top layer down. I'm thinking it's more a 2b.

I quite like having the mix, having been so firmly in the 1a/b category growing up. It's like I can wear a half up and suddenly I get proper wavy hair!
It is a bit harder to get it totally straight theses days though.

I have exactly one wave in my under-hair if I don't comb it out. It's not worth a photo though. Lol. One little wave,,,,

Oh I like this thread because I think my hair fits in this category quite curiously, I have fairly straight hair down to my waist and wavy hair from my waist down but as I am reaching knee my hair has to be combed and braided and up all the time...

My hair during the week, after being up and all

So I would be a wurly if I let my hair down but I cant, anyway, it used to form curls on the ends when I was at classic, here it is an old pic

now it is more wave than wurl but I rarely let it down... But yeah it is funny- Sorry for posting 3 pics, it was just to show what I was trying to explain.

Thank you ;)

I can't tell which I love more, your books or your hair! :o I don't think I have mixed textures, unless you consider the front sections of my hair being wavier than the back, but I think that's pretty normal :p

For sure. The front of my hair is pretty much straight, and the back forms waves. Seems to be getting wavier, too. When I first joined here my hair was 1b. Now some days I could probably get away with calling it 1c/2a. Proper hair care makes a big difference.

Wow your hair looks very close to my texture! I hope mine is as awesome as yours when I reach that length.

I totally have this! Not in wave pattern, but the thickness of individual strands. I'm pretty sure my canopy is course and my "underneath" is fine. The hair underneath that is suuuuper silky smooth, shiny, and soft always tends to have more split ends too! The course canopy, however, is a LOT more resilient. Isn't it so weird how different parts of your head produce different types of hair? SO COOL (and kinda weird) :D

Sure is weird, I would love to know why or if there is even a reason...

That is exactly the kind of distribution I have on my head - straight on top, texture right underneath!!! In my case since my waves are still growing in, all my ends are pin straight as well... it's odd. It looks as though I've put the upper canopy in a half-up, braided the lower section to only about BSL, let the braid waves set, and then taken the whole thing down :p

Yours has an overall feel of waviness and volume that I just love!!! :D

I belong here, too!

I have a weired and changing mix of textures on my head... Sometimes the wurls come out more after washing, sometimes I can barely see any even though I changend NOTHING - but it is always a nice to see what I get :D

I posted these before for hairtyping purposes, but you can see all the different textures...

Oh I love seeing these textural differences too!! And THIS^^ is so close to the distribution I have myself!!! What great volume you have :) You have stronger wurls than me (mine are more S-bend slalom-y) but that straighter top canopy and straighter ends - that looks SO familiar to me :D

It's reassuring to know there are more of us out there with these dual textures and growth patterns :D :D

Are we hair texture twins? :happydance:

That picture is my day one hair. The curlies have the most definition on day one. after that they start to get lazy. I keep trying to get the most out of my wurlies - Lately I've been only finger detangling - when it's wet & full of conditioner. Then rinse, blot, add leave in, squish it & wrap it up in a towel. Then air dry.
using a comb, or brush makes the textures blend better, but I like my wurlies.

Indeed, quite fascinating how the top layer is completely straight.

My hair is way curlier on the canopy and straighter underneath! I don't like bunned half ups so much because my hair suddenly looks much straighter. I have to be careful with my hair if I want to wear it down and curly, because with just a wee bit of manipulation or getting caught on a collar of something, my underlayer loses most of its curl and looks out of place.

It's also very much curlier at the ends than at the top. The crown barely holds a curl unless I plop, ideally with product, and let it dry while loosely pinned up.
