Well, I do CO washes occasionally, and it doesn't make my hair greasy at all.
I think it's a common misconception that condish makes hair greasy or oily. People are just used to the harshness of most commercial shampoos. Conditioners actually do have cleaning power, just not as much as shampoo. Thus, CO is generally considered gentler than shampoo, and kinder to your hair. But not all people like CO, so don't feel like you're abusing your hair if you go back to 'poo. Whatever works for your hair is good, whatever doesn't work is bad.
When I CO I coat my scalp and gently massage it with that pads of my fingers for at least three to four minutes. (real minutes, I use my watch to time it).
Word of warning: if you CO, be careful of cones. They usually will not come off without a good shampoo. It might be a good idea to test a coney condish and a non-coney condish and see what's best.

The only way to know for sure is to try it. CO works great for some with fine hair. I see you have your hair listed a "M" so that tells me you don't consider it real fine. CO gets my scalp clean and moisturizes my ends. You might try alternating CO washes with CWC (condition, wash, condition) washes if your hair is getting greasy too fast. Don't give up after one CO wash. Some people need time to adjust to CO washing.

My hair used to be VERY greasy. I could wash my hair in the morning, and it would be a greaseball by the evening. When I first started doing CO, my hair was still getting pretty greasy, but you have to give it time. Your scalp will adjust and will stop producing too much oil. It took about 3 weeks for mine to normalize. I used CO for about a year, and got really good results from it.
Now, I use shampoo bars, which are also gentle, and my scalp's oil production is still balanced....I only have about 1-2 oily days a month. I can normally skip a day (sometimes 2) in between washings.....BUT I usually do at least a slight scalp wash because I workout every day and like to remove the sweat from my scalp.
ETA: I should probably add that while my scalp was oily, my HAIR was actually on the dry side......

As Carolyn said, the best way to find out if CO will work for you is to try it. I use CO as my cleaning method. My hair loves it. But, I do not have excess oil. My hair leans toward being dry. I do use an oil mixture in my hair as a leave in and I never have trouble getting the oil out using CO. If you leave the conditioner in long enough, it will clean your hair and scalp. Just be sure to rinse well to remove all traces of the conditioner once it does the work!
FYI (my routine)-
I hop in the shower and rinse my hair good with running water, giving my scalp a good massage. Then, I glob on a lot of conditioner (VO5 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint) and massage my scalp well and then, I scrunch the conditioner down the length. I let it sit on my hair and scalp while I finish all my other shower duties. Then, I add a little water and massage my scalp again, add a little more conditioner to the length and gently detangle with a wide tooth comb, always starting at the bottom and moving up as I work tangles free. Then, I rinse and rinse and rinse some more. When I exit the shower, I add a nickel sized portion of oil mixture to my dripping hair and scrunch it in. I plop in an ols tee shirt for about 30 minutes to catch drips. After I take the tee off, I don't mess with my hair until I braid or CO again. I also add a little oil to my DRY Hir, if it gets frizzy or needs finger combed into place.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

I CO and have been for maybe a month now. No, it doesn't make my hair greasier, in fact it does help just a bit. The good news is that my hair can go a little longer between washes without looking gross. The bad news is it means I can go all of 48 hours instead of just 36. I am using suave coconut conditioner (can't think of the name and too tired to go look.) for the scalp cleansing and something nice and coney for the ends.
I have only used shampoo twice in the past month and have not noticed a cone buildup on my ends. I do add an acv rinse about once a week though. Maybe that helps?

My hair was actually oilier when using shampoo than CO. It is important to "wash" with the correct conditioner. I've used a few different kinds, but I'm prefering the V05 tea therapy ones to the Suave Coconut. Not all work though. One VO5 I used made my hair lank and the 365 conditioner from Wild Oats didn't work either. I'd look through the lists, see which ones people like and try those.
I don't know if I would've had a "transition" time going from S-C to CO because in between I did a no poo, WO thing. I was greasier for a while doing that until I evened out.
Like someone else said, my scalp was oily but my ends were dry. CO helps with that.

Jivete, Dolly: That's exactly whats wrong with my hair!!!! I can go about 2 days without washing my hair... I know that sounds like a lot already (don't worry I shower with a shower cap LOL) but my hair is really damaged so the whole washing, brushing, ect so I've been trying to extend the time...
Katahdin: Thank you for the info and link. I am still a bit confused about cones in general because I don't know how I should buy these things... I can't seem to find a list of condititioners with cones and w/out cones anywhere on this site...
Right now I use the Suave Coconut shampoo and conditionner (both because I like the smell and because it's sold at dollarama lol) but I'm invited to the L'Oreal sale and they have all these professionnal shampoos and conditionners there for cheap so if any of you have a good reco I would loooooove to hear it.
I'm definitely going to try this for a month to see what happens. In any case, I'm doing the hair up for 30 days challenge so if I do end up with a severe case greasies it wont really show.. maybe... lol
Thanks for all the information!!!!!! xoxoxoxox

My hair definitely had an adjustment period.....but I'm glad I stuck it out, because I no longer have that problem....and, as a general rule, when looking for a no-cone conditioner, just take a peek at the ingredients list.....anything that ends in "cone" is a silicone.....
Go for it!!

I'm about to try CO and checked the ingredients of the only regular (i.e. not leave-in) conditioner I have. I'm trying to figure out if I can use it for CO.
- If "Dimethicone Copolyol" is water soluable can it be disregarded?
- What are the most common cleansing agents used in conditioners?
TIA
