I saw a post somewhere that showed coils to hold dreads. Naturally I took a leap to use it for my night braid.
I hate elastics so I really do appreciate this and it holds great. I will never go back to elastic. I got these from ebay.

Just to see if it would work for bunning, I tried it out.

Cool idea and indeed looks very neat! Do you think this way of securing your braid could damage your ends in the long run?

laidy, Sorry for not getting back to you. I think these coils are 90 % more gentle on hair than elastics and like you I do not like to use elastics.

This is brilliant, I'm totally trying this. Thank you! :D (and now I have an excuse to buy some fun coloured/decorated spiral hair ties...)

I've been dying for a reason to buy those spiral elastics~ This will do :cheese:

Not only is this super clever, it looks like it actually holds pretty well on thinner braid ends, right? I frequently had trouble with those little jaw clips getting flung off if they weren't full enough.

This looks absolutely brilliant! Great idea!

(I do have to wonder if the diameter of the coil would be too small to be able to create any hold for a thick braid circumference... :hmm:)

You might at least need a telephone cord, meteor! :D

^ He-he! By the way, I honestly thought they were actually made from the same material and mold as telephone cords - shows how little I know about hairties!

To me at least, these look like a much tighter coil. I could be wrong though. I've known a lot of stretched-out phone cords. XD

Meteor, I do think a very large braid would have difficulty with this.. but I have several different coil widths and strengths. The thinner ones could easily be stretched over a thicker braid.
