This question is kind of the opposite of the one I had about the shortest possible length for a bun. Is there a technique for doing a bun with some kind of ring inside it (sock, donut, stretch comb etc) when it is very long (let's say as long as down to your rear end), and for all the hair to fit into the donut shape, I.E. not to have to wrap some of the hair around the axis between the donut and the head? For example, this roll-down method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QxCm34y-E0
Would that work with waist-length or longer hair for getting all the hair into the bun?

I can do it at Hip Length, and prefer the roll down method vs the spread out and base wrap method.

I have various sizes and prefer the smaller donuts.

You can also make your own with a sock; any size you want (see video following the one you posted).
*there is a sock method for those with layers too ; leave part of the sock unraveled and holding the base of your ponytail
