So i will admit I am impatient about hair growth as you will probably know I'm growing out severely damaged hair so just want to know what worked for you for faster hair growth? I know that patience is key but is there anything you have done or changed that has speeded your hair growth? I have noticed that a lot of people say that there hair grows faster in summer, does anyone know why this is and is it the case for you?

Im taking a 'new mum' multivitamin and am going to start drinking 2litres of water a day again (iv stopped doing this the last few months) and going to try and eat more nutritious food (Christmas messed that up!) And im hoping that those things may help to speed it up alittle without risking shedding etc like some scalp treatments (Monistat etc) can do.

The one thing that I feel actually helped my hair growth was improving my overall health; for a long time I was underweight, stressed, and during that time my hair didn't seem to grow at all. And my hair does seem to grow faster in the summer but I don't know why.

Even with a good diet and a multivitamin, I get 1/2 inch a month, and that is average, and something to be thankful for (I think) because there are people here who don't even get that 1/2 inch a month. So if you do get 1/2 inch a month, be *very* happy.

There's all sorts of things on this forum, like inversion method, monistat, and so on and so forth, but... I don't know. I don't believe in those things, for me personally. I like to be patient. Even now, I have cut back to hip from classic, and... I like it, but sort of wish it were longer again... I mean, I'm gonna have to have patience. ;)

As you may already know, there is no magical way to grow faster. If you eat healthy, sleep well and live a good life without too much stress, that's pretty much everything you can do about it.

I guess that faster hair growth in summer can be explained with D-vitamin, but I personally don't have faster growth in summer. Ymmv.

Just try to chill out. Your hair will grow.

This obviously doesn't actually change growth rate (I agree, not much to be done there unfortunately) , but the more I can put my hair up and forget about it, the faster it seems to grow :)

Lots and lots of protein and fats have made my hair grow at the highest speed that's possible for me. It's not drastic but I did notice my hair seems to grow like clockwork every month with no stalls. When I say high fat I meanfats like high quality pastured butter, avocado, and full fat dairy products. High protein nutrient dense chicken liver also helped. I know liver isn't what everyone wants to eat, but I noticed a signicant difference when I started including that in my diet. Lots of water and sunshine as well.

These are my tricks.

I think I know what you mean. Even though I've only been wearing my hair up regularly for a little while it just feels healthier and thicker. I think it might prevent hair fall? It at least seems like there's less hair stuck to my comb when I do it. :)

I dont know about you guys, but the only thing that ever worked or works on my hair is Patience.
A glop of that on my head DAILY works wonders, made me go from shoulder to BSL in a 1.5 years.
Without Patience I would have never hit the length I am now. Love this stuff!!!

I know this sounds strange, but when I had MBL hair that was severely damaged I chopped back to almost APL. After my chop I grew 22 centimeters in 49 weeks. I didn't touch my hair with scissors the entire time. When I finally caved for a trim I had to lose 5 cm just to even my hair out.

Healthy hair breaks a lot less than damaged hair. For healthy hair, look after your own health. Drink your water, eat healthy, get your beauty sleep and excersize. Avoid stress.

Scalp massage increases circulation to the scalp. This can boost your hairgrowth. Protect your hair against damage all the time.

Good luck and happy growing.

I agree - patience and getting busy with something besides hair. My hair also seems to grow faster after I get it cut.

Yes! I absolutely love patience! It has worked so great for my hair!

I think that people have already covered everything :) The best is to put it up and forget about it for a while.

Ha ha like cheese? I've heard you get excellent growth using cheese....

All kidding aside I think in summer you be getting a spike of different endorphins, not just more vitamin D The daylight hours are longer but I think it probably just triggers something in the brain. I live in the sonoran desert and there is much sun to be had durring winter, but my hair seems to have a growth spurt in spring and summer. So it must be something else. Like everyone else has said there is no magic bullet, eat well and have patience. If you have a lot of breakage on the ends, maybe trim that up a bit so you aren't loosing the length you gain.

As others said patience is necessary. Gentler detangling (I no longer use a hard bristle paddle brush, I finger detangle, then rake detangle, then tangle teezer, all starting at the hem and moving up to the roots progressively) has made a huge difference. Also super helpful is stretching washes, and using acv rinses. These things helped my hair grow. And of course, hair friendly accessories and protective updos. Happy growing!

Yeah I know the patience one is an essential one but hard for such an impatient person who's in the hair situation I'm in but I will try to practice this more. Eating protein and drinking water as well as getting lots of sleep seem to be contributing factors x

Growing hair is such a great opportunity to learn some patience :) I know I sure am more patient than two years ago.

Adequate nutrition, water, sleep and exercise are what work best for me. The less stressed I am, the faster I notice it grows. Take care of yourself in general, from the inside out, and your hair will follow suit.

You've got it. Combine that with gentle handling (which you're doing, now) and you're pretty much set. All that's left to do is to wait and try to enjoy the journey (:

Something I thought of after I posted Days ago is scalp massages. Even just dry ones where you just gently massage your dry scalp without oil or anything. I tilt my head forward.

Another vote for good nutrition/exercise/getting outside. That, patience, and protecting my ends.

But mostly patience.

Ive been taking Inositol and Choline tablets to help with my hair growth and it has worked for me.

I had a horrific experience at the hair salon in Aug 2016, and I had to get 5 inches of my hair cut :thud: I was so upset by this!
I started taking Inositol and Choline and my hair has grown 4 inches. my hair is back to the length it was before I decided to grow my hair long.

I have found the below info on a website which explains in more detail about Inositol.

Inositol and Choline

Although inositol works great on its own, it is said to be even powerful when mixed with choline. A strong and basic, water-soluble compound that is naturally occurring in living tissues, this compound has an array of uses as well. When these two substances are combined, they produce phospholipids which literally make up the hair follicle membranes. This provides added protection for hair follicles overall. What’s more, choline, in particular, also helps to prevent hyperandrogenism, making this a powerful remedy for fighting against alopecia.

Side Effects

Although it is said to be fairly safe for most adults, there are a number of potential side effects from using this vitamin. Some of the milder side effects include fatigue, dizziness, headache, and headache. What’s more, there is also some concern that using too much inositol may worsen bipolar disorder by sending semi-stable sufferers into mania. Therefore, if you suffer from bipolarism or any related mental disorders, consult with a professional before using.

Where to Get Your Inositol

As with most naturally occurring substances, inositol can be acquired naturally or with the usage of specific products. On the natural side of things, there are a number of foods you can eat in order to boost your levels of inositol.

Some inositol rich foods include:
•liver
•wheat germ
•green leaf vegetables
•whole grain bread
•brown rice
•cereals
•nuts
•soy flour
•beans
•citrus fruits

On the flip side, there are also a number of products you can use in order to boost your inositol levels.
•vitamins
•shampoo/ conditioners
•leave-in conditioners
•dry sprays
•hair oils
•scalp elixirs
•shea butter formulas

This is really interesting as I took inositol to get pregnant (I have PCOS) after failed fertility treatment and it worked within the first few months. It also cleared my skin up, immunity sure about hair as I wasnt concentrating but if I remember rightly it did grow fast, what's choline? What was your growth before you start taking them? I'm in a similar boat the hairdressers totally ruined my hair which cannot be repaired and is snapping off the where they badly overlapped the bleach so I'm basically growing out from bald, I had it done at the end of July and it's only grown 1cm a month so I only have about 2.5 inches so if inositol could nearly double that it would be amazing x

My hair was cut just up to my shoulders. The hairdresser ruined my hair by using a high vol bleach to lift the colour and totally fried my hair.
I'm unable to share a picture to show you the length of my hair when it was cut short, but in my avatar picture is my current hair length.

Choline does a great job of supporting hair, skin, and nail health on its own. Secondly, it boosts the power of inositol, another nutrient which contributes a great deal to those same tissues.

choline amplifies the power of inositol. Inositol is great for treating psoriasis and eczema as well as other skin conditions, reducing inflammation. It has a balancing effect on hormones, which can help to reduce conditions like adult acne. Studies have also shown that inositol can prevent baldness and thinning hair, particularly in men. All of these health benefits are heightened when you take inositol with choline.

Thankyou hon. Do you take them in separate tablets? How was your growth rate before you started taking them?

I'd double check before taking anything while breastfeeding. If you contact the bfn they have a specialist pharmacist that might be able to advise.

I take them together. Before I started taking these, my hair would only grow 1-2cm a month, and then it just wouldn't grow.
These tablets have really helped me. I don't know how to post pics on here to show you how short my hair was in Aug 2016.

I even tried caffeine shampoo and it made no difference, but choline and inositol have made such a great difference to my hair. I bought hair extensions because my hair was short, a few months after taking the tablets, I decided to put in my extensions, to only realise, my hair had grown to the same length of the extensions! Lol
