Hello all!

It’s my first time celebrating an anniversary. This year I decided I wanted to share my progress. I discovered LHC mid-december three years ago, lurked for a few months, joined, lurked for another few months, then dived right in.

My progress while lurking started at BSL and ended at waist:

At the beginning of summer I was still lurking... and took the most horrifying pic! The light showed off every uneven layer I had and I decided to take microtrimming seriously. Here is before and after a summer of microtrimming (I know the lighting isn’t quite the same but oh well):

At the end of that summer I started posting. One of my first posts was for hair typing... it was difficult as the smallest manipulations cause my hair to bend and stay that way. This was the damp-dry hair typing pic:

This is where I was after one year at lhc:

And all the lovely colors and layers I was growing out:

Over the next year I microtrimmed and mictrotrimmed. At the end of 2015 I finally trimmed my ugly little duck tail so it blended into the rest of my hemline. Before trimming:

After trimming:

to be continued...

At the beginning of 2016 I decided to switch my focus from trimming to length retention. I wanted to see how much I could grow in a year, too, so joined the 2016 no trimming thread.

The mid arse abyss begins:

It was difficult not to microtrim so I distracted myself with pretty colors:

My official before and after 2016 pics (first pic, bottom of shirt shows classic):

So I start this new year almost at my original goal of classic and ready to get back into a schedule of microtrimming. I might experiment with growing longer than classic, and maybe some more colors... In the meantime, I'm enjoying hanging out in this lovely community. I regularly frequent the mental health support thread and the friendship board. I also like lurking in various etsy makers' threads to admire the creativity. I lurk in the mane forum, however lately I've been enjoying directing newbies towards different techniques. I've also participated in a few swaps now and plan on joining more, it's a nice way to celebrate the seasons. I very much like the philosophies of 'your mileage may vary' and 'not here to decorate your world'.

Thank you all for making this place an awesome community to be a part of! I hope you enjoyed seeing my progress.

That's some impressive growth, and using the stripes on a Hudson's Bay shirt as length markers is the most Canadian thing I've seen this week.

You maintained a beautiful thick hemline through the no trim challenge, your hair is very pretty! I thought the "duckbill" was cute, as that's exactly what it looks like when you describe it. How'd it come to be anyway? Bangs growing out you finally married with the longer hair creating shorter sides?

Very inspirational! We have almost the same hair, so I'm really happy to see it looking so nice at your length. Been told since I was a teenager that I shouldn't grow my hair long.

Ugh I have no idea, I think it was a poor layering job at a salon. Either way I was so happy once the tail was gone!

Psh don't listen to em! I'm so pleased to hear from you and others that I've inspired you! <3

What a beautiful and amazing transformation! This is so inspiring! :hifive:

I am starting from the same length as your first pic, I would be over the moon if my progress looked like yours in 3 years.
