Where does the term "body wave" come from?
And what hair types fall into "body wave"? 1C? 2B?

Anyone know?

I see it this way: I gives body/volume but does not cause visible "rippling"

I think Arctic has it about right. It's a mild perm intended to give your hair extra volume and body plus just a little wave.

I have 2b hair and certainly have some body wave action.

The rollers tend to be larger so the curl pattern doesn't come out tight.

For a body wave, the curlers lean more towards the left end of the image above, and for a permanent the rollers used generally used are the ones on the right side of the image.

1b & 1c have a "body wave". It's where the whole hair as one goes into a wave, like a blanket that has one ripple. 2 type hair has individual "strings" of waves, if that makes sense... more like braid waves.
