I'd never heard of this one before, found it on an old list of hairstyles and found a video tutorial by Hypnotica.

It reminds me of another one of her styles, but I can't put my finger on which one. . .

Have fun!

Not enough length here - but looking forward to seeing everyone else's!

First I have to grow another 2 ft of hair! :) Gorgeous bun though!

I tried it on my thin, tailbone length hair it was small and had a "butt" which I don't like. Leave this on for the thick log haired ladies. Sigh.....

This looks pretty! I'm gonna try this later and see how it turns out.

Mine looks feeble too and I won't try it again unless a miracle occurs. Which at my age won't.

I can do teeny one if I use less fingers. It's not very impressive though lol.

seeing as i misread this as a Panty Bun i had to give it a try...and much to my surprise it worked! (i don't have cooperative hair) If i ever get around to washing my hair i'll get a picture, i'm not sure if it looked like a proper panty bun but it sure held well! :o

lmao. Panty bun. Dang it, now I'm going to try this just so I can say I did a Panty bun.

Heh heh, panty bun.

Here's mine, complete with ends sticking out and stray hairs all over the place, as usual. It's really secure though, and it turns out is another bun I can reliably do with a Ficcare.

I looked at Hypnotica's and Torrin's tutorials for this bun but it just seems like a nautilus to me. When I attempted it, it looked like a messy lazy wrap... I'm probably doing something wrong.

I'm not sure I've got enough length yet for this, but I'll give it a try another day (I'm too irritable to try a new hairstyle today, but it's pretty and I want to try it).

Panty Bun; leg holes and all! :rolling: Gotta say it's a game-changer for me and my slippery hair! It holds like a rock, but I have to be careful I don't do it too tight. Owwwww. And yup, to me it's like a Nautilus, but with the loop only going half way over the stem to top the bun.

And if I get my knickers in a twist (aka twist the loop downwards, but still topping the bun, before inserting the stick or fork through the leg holes) I get an even tighter, cement-grip bun.

You may want to look away now, because I even took a pic of my Knickers in a Twist! :flasher:

My KnickersInATwist bun feels solid! Nautilus, that's what it reminded me of. I wonder if that twist in the loop at the beginning is what makes it sturdier than a Nautilus. It is also much more compact than my go to buns, or feels that way, but I did twist the length as I put it up and I don't usually twist.

Photo later.

i think my bun fails are always more entertaining than successful-(ish) attempts so here's a panty fail, it still held really well! (i totally have a joke about what this bun variation could be named but it's probably not lhc appropriate :couch: )

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/20161208_145623_resized%20396x640_zpsateqlepo.jpg

here's an attempt that came out a little better, though i think it looks nothing like the original. Which is par for the course for me, what i call my nautilus bun looks nothing like any other nautilus bun i've ever seen. :p Skillz: i haz none.

http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab76/heletwo/20161208_152013_resized%20379x640_zpssyotjpnh.jpg

i can only get this to work by not twisting the length, if i do the twisting i can't get anything through my hair to secure the bun.

Just wish I could get the hand of photo taking and transferring to computer so I could show off my buns too. I do not have enough to do this one at tailbone length. That clear acrylic stick Crystawani is lovely.

I have to watch the fingers at the first loop over and over. Like what the heck just happened there with that little loop? Rewind.

Did you know you can watch youtube videos on slow motion? Full screen + slow motion really helps with many hair styles!

Thank you Artic! I was excited to hear that. However, I tried to figure out how to do this on the app, and gave up after 10 minutes.

Tried this. It just looks like LWB on me, to me. Except it is tighter.

I don't know about app, but on browser (computer), when viewed at the You tube site, there is a little gear-image which opens the settings. One of the settings is the speed; you can adjust it to slow motion, normal or super fast.

I tried using the browser on my phone and not the app, but it looks the same. I don't use a computer. Thanks anyway.

This will probably look better with a foot more of hair. Looks like LWB.

I'm late to even see this thread (which I blame work for, doing double roles atm and are basically worn out) but I'm honoured to be in a monthly style :)

For me, the Pansy is a love child between the one stick wrap bun and the nautilus. And yes, the twist in the beginning is to make the bun more secure. My hair has reached level 10 of Restisting Updo's so I need all the security I can get. :)

Tried. Failed. At least I had a good laugh taking the behind shots of myself. XD Gotta learn the basics first before trying these more complicated ones.

I was both impressed by how well this held, and that I could use a shorter toy in it.

So delicious Neko!

Oh yeah this is totally a good one for shorter toys. Basically your length doesn't so much get factored in to the toy use, it's all just the first loop plus scalp hair.

I'm scratching my head why now, considering I am lefty like Hypno is, yet I prefer to flip this bun the mirror image, and still insert toy from the left side...

Ravenheather watched me do this and tells me it's almost the same as Orchid bun.

I'm a bit late but I love this bun. It's super secure and I can use a stick, fork or clip to hold it which is unheard of for my hair and other buns. Here's a rather crappy photo of today's messy Pansy bun (it's kind of hard to both to do a good bun as well as getting a good photo while at the same time rocking a baby hoping that she wont wake up :p )

My loop was already at the top, I did the loops underneath in the first place.

I think we leftys get used to do stuff the righty kind of way :D
