details: I never pull when it hurts, neither do I ever pull hair out. What I do is I take a hand full of my hair, at the roots, and then I twist my hair similar to in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Fe-15AHt1E

To an outsider it looks like I belong in a clinic, but I genuinely have a really itchy scalp, and tugging at my hair is the only thing that stops the itchiness-sometimes momentarily, but sometimes it helps for quite a while. Either that or I go back to scratching my scalp.

It feels really good, but I'm wondering whether I should just stop touching my hair. I'll probably go insane from the itch, but if leaving it alone would finally make the little annoying scab on my head go away, that would be great.

I dont know about hair tugging, but whats the reason behind the itch in the first place? Eczema? Dandruff? Allergy? Products? Have you checked it up?

I would stop doing what you're doing asap. That can't be good. Low manipulation is key, and twisting/tugging the hair in any way only causes more hair to fall out.

I'd go visit a doctor.

Do you have any flakes, redness besides the itch.

Have you been diagnosed with anything yet?

most likely Eczema, I used to have it as a child when I couldn't stop itching my leg pits. It's that and having a dry scalp. Apple cider Vinegar makes the itching go away

that's the weird thing, my hair is just becoming stronger and stronger. I think tugging it is actually healthy. My hair is growing more at the patch where it is itchy, it's just the that the spot where the hair is growing, there is also a scab, I think the Growth + a scab, is what is causing the itching. Maybe I should go see a doctor, or maybe a hair specialist to see what I should do about the scab/itching. The obvious answer is of course to just leave it alone, I think. Maybe I should try olive oil again.

I wouldnt settle with just "most likely eczema". A dry and itchy scalp can be dandruff/fungus for example. If I were you, Id check it up. Theres help to get out there.

(have you tried switching products? Tried an anti-fungal shampoo?)

Correct me if Im wrong scientists of LHC, but I believe olive oil contains oleic acid, which is like food for fungus. Dont use that on the spot until you know what the spot it caused by.

I use shampoo once a month, I do have an anti-itching shampoo from the pharmacy, the last time I used it my hair went flat. I'll use the anti itching shampoo, I doubt it will do much since Apple cider vinegar only stops the itching for so long. Once the itching comes back I'll let my scalp be consumed by olive oil and leave it on for a day. Then I'll wash that out completely and do the same with apple cider vinegar. I'll stop tugging the entire time.

Oh, well scratch the olive oil idea then. I was hoping olive oil would put my itching to rest and at the same time give nutrients to the scab and scalp. I don't think it's a fungus tbh, I often use apple cider vinegar.

As long as the itch goes away, never mind that your hair is flat! I mean... I would be glad the itching would go away regardless.

I would check with a doctor. Only a doctor can tell you what's really wrong! We can't. In fact none of us can help if you don't go out and help yourself first. :flower:

Sounds like the vinegar is just a temporary patch, and that's no use in the long run.

What's the name + brand of the shampoo you have?

Never mind I skipped the anti itching shampoo and went straight to the apple cider vinegar, I went a bit nuclear, 1/4 water & 3/4 Apple C V. And I added a twist, this time I didn't use a brush to distribute the vinegar across my scalp. Instead I just squirted it on the scab spot. I figured because I had always been using a brush, the scab was just being destroyed every time, which is also why the itching went away lol. So no more brushing the scalp this week for me.

The name of the anti itching shampoo that makes my hair go flat is Bellherbal swiss hairline shampoo sensitive(main ingredient: Aqua, second ingredient after that sodium laurath, there's quite a lot of ingredients). I have strong hair that kind stands up like einstein (but without the curly waviness), it's not as strong as einsteins because once it get to that length it drops due to the weight. This shampoo really doesn't play to that "strength", it does however do a really good job of cleaning.

I don't think u should be putting anything on it until u get a doctor's opinion. What ever your doing could be aggregating it. For now if it's scabby, I would just use a saline solution to clean it. Until u have had someone look at it, if u can't see a doc, pop in and see your local pharmacist.

This doesn't sound all that great and healthy, but it's your scalp. :flower:

Seems like you have made up your mind in how you're going to be dealing with this, so I'm no longer sure what the question was. ;)

It was rather rash and inpatient, but it seems to be going good. I'v used ACV quite a lot, my scalp and skin seems to have become some what "immune to it", my skin no longer goes red after coming into contact with it, despite having very sensitive skin.

After the first half hour of applying the nuclear option my scab felt a bit like it was pulsing, but not everything has calmed down and I'm not even itchy. I got lucky it seems. I'll report back if all my hair has fallen out lol

Seriously? :( Can I ask why you won't go to a doctor?

Oh before I was using it a lot because my scalp was dry and flakey and itchy. This scanb developed because I scratched too much, and now it's developed into excsma, most likely. I'm going to refrain from twisting/combing/scratching and wait for the scab to fall off. So far no itching, the ACV is really doing its work. Tomorrow I'm going to wash it all out completely and then I'm going to wear olive oil for the day. If this makes the itching worse, I'll conclude that it's a fungus after all and I'll go see a doctor, before that I'll probably try the anti-itching shampoo since it also has that saline that someone suggested in it.

That's how my trichotillomania started. Very itchy eyes, started tugging on my lashes. Eventually I had no eyelashes bc I was pulling them out with tweezers before they could grow in fully.
