View Full Version : hairtyping help......or too short to tell?

I washed and let my hair dry naturally. I was wondering if anyone would tell me their opinion on my hair type. I know that my hair is very short, but I think a texture is becoming visible. What hairtype would you say that I fall under? Or do you think that I need more length to tell?

Looks a 3A to me, but then again I am still new to all this and not too sure on the whole typing thing! Beautiful colour and curls.

My sister has similar hair.

I vote for type "awesome". :) (I can't hairtype my way out of a wet paper bag, so I'm no help!)

It looks like it's 3a for me, but I'm not an expert so I may be wrong.

I have no idea about your hair type, but I couldn't pass on by without commenting...... Your natural hair is beautifull!!! Lucky lucky you.

Well, I would say at this length it looks like 3a. However, sometimes as it gets longer it will stretch out the curls and look more wavy like a 2c/3a. So I would suggest just typing it whatever it looks like to you now and you can change it later if it grows in differently than expected. Sometimes, people's hair changes over time anyway.

Looks very pretty either way.

I agree, type it now but reevaluate later as it gets longer.
I would say at least 2c though, and probably 3.
My hair doesn't curl nearly that much when short, so that's my reference point.

Oh how pretty! I'd guess 3A, maybe even 3B.

Looks 3a to me, might develop into 2c/3a with added length. I see waves and I see curls.

For sure in the 3s. 3a or 3a/3b

I echo the consensus at 3a, but once you gain more length, it might edge it's way to a more loose pattern. And your curls are just gorgeous!!! :thud:

No way are you a 2b you don't even belong in the 2s lol, your in the 3s I'd say 3a maybe 3b you got cute curls that want so badly to be long lol.

For the moment I'd call it 3a, but the fact that you've got curls that close to your scalp at that length makes me wonder if it's not closer to 3b. Time and length will tell.

It's pretty, in any case! :)

Call it 3a for now and as it gets longer you can re-type yourself. That's what I did. You have a fantastic curl pattern. :thudpile:

Thank you all for chiming in. It seems that the consensus is 3a and to reassess when it gets longer. Yay! I have struggled with my hair for years, so all of the nice compliments were kind of a boost and are helping me get over this struggle to get beyond my pixie cut :)

I wish I knew how to type hair. I don't even really know my own hairtype. I haven't typed it since it had a LOT of damage and now I have a pixie cut so I'm unsure of what my real hairtype is.
