View Full Version : I Cut.

Good afternoon, darlings.

I cut my hair.

I know, I know.

I took off off six whole inches, which took me from mid-calf to slightly-north-of-knee. It took me a while to work up the courage to go get the big trim done, but once it was finished I was very happy with the results.
I went to a long standing local barbershop, thinking a simple blunt cut wouldn't tax the man's skills too much.
When i got there the proprietor was in residence and when I asked him if he could take care of me, he pointed me to one of his employees, a nice young lady named Hope. She finished her client and then took me. Then I let down my hair and she gasped. I told her all I needed was four to six inches take off the bottom, a straight blunt cut to even up the hemline.
She took my hair in hand, ragged ends and all, and combed me out, parted my locks into four sections, and in fifteen minutes flat, had my hair all neatened up, straightened out, and looking great.

I miss being ring able to feel my ends gently grazing my calves, but when she showed me the eight raggedy little hairs she'd trimmed off, I didn't regret the big trim at all.

Ill post photos soon.

Wow, cool story. That was daring going to a barber shop! They like to shave heads... hubby went to a barber once for a hair cut and they shaved his head and its the only time I nearly saw my husband cry.

Whoops! Really didn't mean to scare everybody.

I had heard on here once upon a time of several members who swore by barbershops for their lack of pushy hairdressers, and that's exactly what I got there. It was a really good experience. And for $16?!

I miss the extra length, but going for quality over quantity feels good.

I can't wait to see the blunt ends:)

It's still got a lot of taper, but now at least it doesn't look like a puppy chewed my braid.

Wow! Congrats! I hope your new hemline feels great!
It does!

Awesome. I'm glad you're happy with the result.

I'm about to do something similar as my ends have been see-through for a long time. It took a while to work up the courage to chop a chunk. I'm waiting for my designated hair cutter (Mom) to come back from a trip tomorrow to do it this weekend. It will be about the same amount too, just on a shorter length than calf. :D

The gentleman who owns the establishment looked very dubious about handling my hair, but a female employee got ahold of me before the owner could and she took very good care of me. Thank you!

Conflicting thoughts, here.

Your barber was appropriately named for the interaction.
Fabulous hemline at such length, it gives me, ahem, hope. (Aside from Julya, you might be the only blunt knee and beyonder)
It's amazing how attached we can get to a handful of hairs.
Wtf is up with the magic six to eight inches at these lengths? And how it slams us back a milestone.
Aaand....
Porportionally, I now have longer hair than you. :wigtongue:

Now, details. When I get a trim, I have to stand on something tall, so my ends are in a work zone. What was it for you?
Are you planning a spoil your ends treatment?
Maintaining?

Yeah, the new hemline is a huge improvement over the very unhealthy FTE hemline I had. I'm glad I did it.
Yes, I have to stand to get my hair trimmed. The poor girl was a lot shorter than I am, too.

Good for you! I know it can be hard to make that cut.

Thank you! I went through several two-week-holds, but in the end I'm glad I did it.

Very nice, I like how they did not do a bad job thank god just a nice blunt cut.

I know, I'm really thankful that the Hope (lady barber) wasn't pushy and that she did just what I asked.
