So I just wanted to check I'm doing all I can for my hair. I'm growing out extremely damaged hair (over processed by the hairdresser) its collar bone length and after speaking to numerous hairdressers I'm leaving it at this length and having the damage cut off as the new hair grows in so this is what I'm doing is there anything else you can suggest to prevent any additional damage, so you know the extent of the damage, I have breakage and the ends are really split and there are splits up the hair shaft some areas are worse than others (please don't say cut it super short and start again as after a lot of thought and advice from hairdressers this is not the right route for me, I have had about 4inches cut off but it didn't make much difference but will have it cut regularly to have cut off whatever grows, and when it's grown out enough of the virgin hair to have a layered short bob I will have all the damaged hair cut off)
I wash twice a week if I can only once but this is generally what I do
Wash 1- (the Redken products are all the extreme (protein) range) Redken conditioner- followed by redken shampoo-the redken ECAT protein treatment for 5mins- redken conditioner which I rinse of straight away then I apply the EDEN bodyworks, Jojoba Monoi, All natural deep conditioner (I chose this as it has no protein in it just very moisturising) and wrap my head in cling film and leave this on for 30-60minutes before rinsing. I let my hair air dry for ten mins then apply redken anti snap treatment and argan oil then when its nearly dry I add some more of both products, when its all air-dried I tie it back with a scrunchie (iv just bought some metal free, no damage thick elastics) and that's it.
Was 2- Either coconut oil/olive oil left on for afew hours or the olaplex no 3 treatment (I'm not going to repurchase it though as iv seen no improvement since using it) then wash with (Creme of Nature) Sulfate free moisture and shine shampoo with argan oil, then follow with the all natural deep conditioner again, and use the cling film and leave it on for 30-60mins again. And do the same as above for drying if.
I'm not using any heat on my hair what so ever, I'm taking the scrunchie out when I go to sleep, and have a smooth pillow (decided against a satin/silk one as I sweat at night anyway) and I use a wide tooth comb (occasionally a wet brush). I eat a very healthy diet (also obvs eat chocolate, ice cream and cakes too nom nom) with plenty of protein, fruits, veg, good fats etc and drink lots of water. I'm aiming to do the inversion method (without oil) every other week (or do you think one week a month would show better results?) the sleep bit is difficult as I have a very anti sleep 5week old baby!! But obviously once hes settled down and will sleep in his crib I will be on with that too!!
What else would you suggest? to enhance growth and prevent anymore damage to the bleached hair until its grown long enough to be chopped off.
Thankyou all in advance.
