Hi everyone,

My hair has a slight wave to it, and it is currently a short bob. Therefore it sticks out in all directions and looks silly unless it's weighed down my grease (which is also not a good look lol!). It is not long enough for a ponytail, and I don't like wearing hats because it makes my hair seem even shorter than it actually is. I find myself constantly touching it, and all the manipulation probably isn't good for my hair. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can get my hair our of sight and out of mind?

Thank you! =)

French or dutch braids!! I wish I had learned to do them sooner, it would have looked so cute when my shortest layers were ear length... It doesn't have to be a full braid either, like headband braids/lace braids.

Maybe something like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBP_mLWROZU

I would suggest a cute headband or bandana. I love the way bandana tied at the top of the head look!

I'd use some fancy snag proof hair clips

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! =)

Do you guys think that wearing bobby pins in your hair every day would be damaging? I like doing french braids/ french twists at the sides and pinning them back, and would like to do that more often.

I think you could get away with using bobby pins as long as you don't put them in the exact same place every day. Also don't cross them. You can buy really pretty decorated bobby pins, too. I use those all the time, but parallel, not crossed.

You might also adjust your expectations of how your hair is allowed to look. I was browsing short, wavy styles not very long ago, and some of them look very free form or messy.

spidermom is right, messy wavy bobs are the in style of the moment. Id just go for texturizer or dry shampoo shake it like a mad person and go. I mean google that and im pretty sure you would be able to see what I mean... hechk even some of those cuts look so croocked or a bad chop work and looks amazing when hair is wavy!

If u still dont like it, bobby pins are just fine and still look cute and more put together!!!!

I did a quick Google, and there's some great photos of short messy wavy bobs.

Be careful with bobby pins...back when I used to wear them every day it caused a clear spot of breakage right where I would put them.
There are a lot of cute styles for short wavy hair. I would suggest looking at tutorials on Youtube.

I love wavy bobs :) I would probably pin it back with a few bobby pins if it gets in the way but like others have said, try to not place them in the same spot every day and you should be fine!

If your hair isn't long enough for a ponytail, you could try pigtails. They seem to be a little more acceptable on very short hair. That's what I did. However, that might feel childish to you if you don't like them--it suited me, but not everyone likes them. I couldn't wear headbands, but it's certainly something you could try. You could also twist back pieces of your hair at the temples and pin them back.

I also saw gorgeous wavy bob in hairstylezz (http://hairstylezz.com/best-short-weave-hairstyles/3/) I recommend careful removal of the length -- cut too much while wet, and your hair may wind up curly rather than wavy when it dries. I speak from experience:)
Maybe this picture can give you an indication of how your wavy hair might sit with this

Everybody has great suggestions, any of which could work for you depending on your preferences. I'm growing out wavy hair, and while I think messy bobs look awesome on other people I hate having hair in my face :). My absolute favorite growing-out styles have been twists held back with small claw clips at the sides and secured low at the nape with a larger clip, and double French braids, which secure shorter hair than one might think. Headbands and bandannas are great too, but if you want to have your hair up and out of the way, these options have worked will for me. If you like the look you can also get it all up by tying on a bandanna with the triangle part in the back pointing up, secured by tying the ends on top of your head. I do use Bobby pins sometimes but am careful about how I put them in and take them out. My hair is layered from almost chin to just below shoulder, so ymmv if your hair is all one length. But good luck and have fun experimenting!
