View Full Version : Help me decide which hair toy I want.

I promised myself that I would buy just one hair toy this year as a christmas present and really can't decide which should I buy. I would like to have metal one as it is weather proof.

I was thinking about quattro 2 prong, as I have read they are amazing, but it would be very expensive as there would be ~13€ delivery and 24% vat added to original price, so 80€ fork would actually cost 115€. Are they really worth it?

With that price I could buy Senza limiti 2 prong and a small buncage and chocolate for a month. I am just conserned how the metal fork would hold as I love the desing in them.

I could also get lotus ficcare, 3 course dinner in mediocre restaurant and one glass of house red.

I like the way you think regarding the chocolate, dinner and wine!
Here's another option - buy a plain (without the stone) Quattro 2 prong and see if you like it, and if it works for you. He has the nesting set of 2 flex forks for $38. I wear mine *all the time* .... They're plain but I do think they're worth it. I have fancier Quattro items too, but reach for the flex forks more. Then you could get the lotus ficcare as well (!) And some chocolate (!)
I think you're wise to try to make the most of your budget. Import taxes can be nuts, I feel for you guys who have to deal with that.

Thank you :) I am now consider plain one too, but it would be 60€ after delivery and vat. So it would end up pretty pricey too. On the other hand, things I don't use, no matter the cost, are always too expensive as being wasted money.

Actually I don't really mind paying vat as I am paying it anyway as it is included in pricing here and I have most likely benefitted more from taxes that I have directly payed them. :) We pay customs only from purchases over 150€.

I think I lied about the chocolate, it would not last for a month. :D

Eta. I am not saying I like to pay any extra as vat or any other taxes. Having not to pay them is a happy suprise. :)

I love these shops, and have hair toys from all of them in all different sizes.
They all hold my fine slippery silver very well.:)

Oh no! More options! Thank you Groovy Granny! :)

Unfortunately (my wallet says luckyly) OverTheHawaiianMoon does not deliver abroad, but have to check other ones. They seem to have reasonable prices as well as delivery charges.

I do lack action pictures. I have to be more active on that regard and try to learn how to take decent ones. :

Now I want something from Skydesign :pinktongue: They have two minimalist hair sticks that would be perfect for everyday! (and shipping fees low)
For more shiny and elaborated stuff check KeepandCherish (https://www.etsy.com/shop/Keepandcherish/items?section_id=15730365)! Never bought anything from them just because it is too hard to choose ^.^

I have several items from this shop and the hold is fantastic and they are very well made. I have never had one slip out of my fine hair.

Choosing is worst! I really try to keep in some kind of budjet and can't justify using hundreds in hair toys. I like to have pretty things, but there is a limit :)

KeepandCherish things really are pretty though.

Are you 100% set on the metal hair toy? If you want to try wood instead I'd suggest jeter fork.. I love mine! Also, would you consider a flexi-8?

Are the spirals easy to use? They look a bit scary... but so beautiful, I'm curious!

They are very easy to use. Just screw them in and screw them out. These will last a lifetime.

My list is growing! I like the copper three fork set, and it is affordable too. Thank you!

I have couple jeterforks and I do love them, but as it is fall over here and weather is unpredictable (read raining just every other day, could be worse), I have realized I need more weather proof hair toys.

I am not really a fan for flexi-8s, at least not yet, but who knows, I didn't like ficcare type clips few months ago either. :)

Oh sorry; I forgot your are abroad

Don't worry. I have gotten over that I will never have any pretties they have to offer. :liar: :D I take it as a compliment as I always am quite conscious about my english. :)

Sorry Henni if I deviated the conversation  If I were you and I could only have one hair toy it would be a Quattro!

Since it's been mentioned, I have a KeepandCherish fork (the Madame butterfly (https://www.etsy.com/listing/175438027/madam-butterfly-copper-wire-hair-pin) - it was my first hair toy) and I've always been pleased with it. I can easily adjust the bend but it holds sturdy enough for me. I haven't worn it wet much as I prefer acrylics for that, but it would work well enough for that if that's the goal. Shipping was quick too. I haven't ordered anything else as I simply can't decide what I want next, but I nearly always have on in my cart to mull over.

I'd base my decision on what I thought I'd get the most wear out of, personally. And maybe on what you're missing in your collection. That's what would make it worth the extra expense to me. Perhaps a simple two-prong metal fork that you can test out will help you decide if a fancier, costlier version is worth it. Maybe see if you can pick up some double-pointed knitting needles and bend them into forks or use them as sticks. I spent a couple dollars for 5 and I use mine in the shower or with wet hair all the time.

That's actually what I did to try metal in my fine/slippery hair...and check sizing
I had my Mother's DPNs and gave up knitting, so I repurposed them into forks......and love them too ;)

Sorry Henni if I deviated the conversation  If I were you and I could only have one hair toy it would be a Quattro!

 Be my guest :) I get more information. I did venture etsy and found couple cheaper options for simple copper forks.

Quattro is tempting, but so expensive! I was considering that pair schnibbles mentioned, but it is just too expensive for plain one.

My collection is small and is missing fancier ones :) I have made those needle forks and I like them, just not outdoors.

I have bijoux manouel pins, but my hair seems to usually spit them out, but my aluminium knitting needle fork stays.

Did I say just one hair toy?

Thank you all for helping me to make up my mind. :) I choose very pretty and sparkly quattro fork as every girl needs something sparkly? Right? I did also purchase simple hammered copper forks from NataBijoux, so I am good without purchasing any hair toys for a long while!
