The video I learned from. As always, if you know of another tutorial or want to make a tutorial, post it!

Some old photos of me fooling around with this bun are in my blog (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/entry.php?b=106024).

I think I did it?! It's very loose though. I definitely couldn't run to catch the subway in this hairstyle. Perhaps it will take more practice. Stick-held buns (unless they're highly wrapped, like the pha or L-finity) don't hold well for me.

I have to form a smaller Celtic knot and then fork mine.

Ooh! Will try tomorrow after it gets washed. Currently very tangly and in my "I give up" hairstyle -- which is very cute c: French twists into rope braid pigtails.

I want to try this one but my hair does not like being wrapped into itself (the knot) at all.

Sarahlabyrinth, day 8 hair?! I wish my hair looked that good on day TWO.

I tried it with a fork:

Is there a written tutorial for this? I can't see what she's doing with her hands.

Oooh I've heard of this bun, but have never tried it out. I think I will try it tomorrow and post the success or the failure afterwards.

I've spent over an hour trying to do this bun but the loops just explode and it's always too lose. Wonder what's going wrong?

Yes! I want written instructions too. I have all sorts of trouble with videos. Hate 'em.

I found another video where the girl in the video explains what she does. Maybe this one will be easier for those (like me) who have trouble with just visual direction.

I was able to do the bun (I think? Lol) after watching the above video. Maybe include it with the first in case other people need extra help? Don't mind my makeshift hair stick. I have none right now and is going to be another two weeks before I have enough money to get one. Lol.

Here's my attempt. There's a loop of hair that hugs the neck of the stick, but it doesn't show too well in the fading light. :undecided

Aw, thank you, Sarahlabyrinth. One day my hair will grow up (down?) to be like yours. :D Oh, and I had a little chuckle when I realised we'd both worn our Jupiter Night sticks for this bun. :hifive:

It looks fantastic! Very sleek style and looks pretty and is effective.

I love the fact you used a pencil as a hair stick! Very creative.

I am mesmerized by the beauty of your hair!

I love this bun!!!! It is always neat to see how much more creative long hair is compared to short in terms of styling options!

I pulled this up at work to day.
My co-worker and I both tried this and looked pretty good...even with the ball point pens for sticks !

I gave it a try on my not-quite-dry hair and I think it might work on my hair. I'm going to give it a proper try once my hair is dry, combed, oiled, brushed, and generally post-wash dealt with. I think I might just barely have enough length for it! YAY!

ETA: Tried it and it seems to be staying put. I think my initial hunch that I have just enough length for it is correct.

If I did this correctly, it looked nice and held quite well for me all day yesterday, didn't get a picture though...

It is just a slip knot, right? Or am I missing something in the tutorials?

I decided to try...I'm not sure I did it correctly. After doing the "slip knot" part, I wrap the tail in the opposite direction of how I started the bun. Here is my first try and how I actually wore it (redid it). On the plus side, I figured out how to put my phone to take photos with the timer much easier than how I had been doing photos...

First try:

http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p550/ladycaladium/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0902_zpsys5mowyv.jpg (http://s1155.photobucket.com/user/ladycaladium/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0902_zpsys5mowyv.jpg.html)
http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p550/ladycaladium/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0907_zpschqeiwbg.jpg (http://s1155.photobucket.com/user/ladycaladium/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0907_zpschqeiwbg.jpg.html)

Second try (same day, using a pin instead of a fork):

http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p550/ladycaladium/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0910_zpsj0fcbkyf.jpg (http://s1155.photobucket.com/user/ladycaladium/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0910_zpsj0fcbkyf.jpg.html)

So I don't think my hair is quite long enough for this to look as nice as it does with longer hair, but it is a style I can see myself growing into.

Beautiful! If my hair wasnt only a 10th of your length I'd totally try it. I cannot wait to grow my hair nice and long. Those buns are just lovely.

I've never tried this bun before but I like it! Very comfortable when held with my trusty Big Pin. I think the whirls shape is quite forgiving for those of us with mops that laugh at the very idea of being sleek or elegant ;)
