View Full Version : My New Purple Hair (UNBLEACHED!)

So, I've been yearning for purple hair for quite awhile, however, I love my natural color and did not want the commitment that comes with bleaching. After a little poking around on the web, I decided on Punky color as there were several success stories of using it on unbleached hair. I used one jar of violet and one jar of Plum mixed together (they didn't have two jars of the same color) and used about 1 2/3 of the mixture. I then let it sit for 2 hours, then rinsed. Here are the results, in indoor light. I will get better, outdoor pics in the morning.

I am so happy with how this turned out. A great compromise for not bleaching my hair, but still getting a lovely shade of purple. Note, my ends were bleached slightly as I had dyed my tips fire engine red a few weeks ago. My natural color is medium auburn (see siggy)

I love it! Pink &/or purple are my two favorite colors to play with, whether I'm auburn (past) or jet black (present). Your hair is so very long and full of curls too!

Nice!

I love playing around with trying colours without bleach (my hair's rainbow right now). My mom has hair much darker than mine, and she recently did purple rather like yours.

Thank you everyone :) Quixii, I always adore your rainbows. I wish I could do rainbow hair, but unfortunately green and yellow would not show up on me :(

Very nice shade and very tasteful as well. It's not too overbearing and not too subtle. Well achieved.

Added outdoor lighting pics to the OP. It looks more bluebased in outdoor light and red based indoors. Can't quite get a picture to capture it right, unfortunately, but close enough.

I'd be careful with that, you might tint your holly purple.

Looking good though!! <3

Oh wow....I don't color my hair, so I never even gave that issue a thought when I commented; good catch

Here is the original listing Arete, for your info
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/1038832187

She treated it with a 'satin wax'....does that protect it better Pastina? :hmm:

Her shop is not open now but there is a contact link if needed on the shop page.

I may or may not have gotten blue on my holly fork already accidentally... I'm not having any issues with it rubbing off, but I think I'll wait until it's had a wash just in case residual dye is still there...

Seeing there is a wax on it and it was a new fork/not worn, perhaps the stain can be removed?
Or hopefully it is hidden by hair

Nice! I'm jealous---I would love to have fashion color hair but I doubt that there's much that will show on top of my natural brown/black, and I'm definitely not planning on bleaching! I would be interested in seeing how it fades over time!

I think you might get a purple sheen with this dye or arctic fox. Both have high pigment load and Stick decently to virgin hair. Probably would only be visible in bright light or Sun if youre below a five though.

i had the bottom half of my hair blue with red tips for the two weeks leading up to my purple. I wore my holly fork, and a spot got dyed blue :(. Fortunately it's covered by my hair when up

So here we go on the fading: It stayed very, very purple for about 3 washes. Faded somewhat at four, and was mostly out of my scalp by 5. It took about ten washes to get back to my natural color completely without a purple tint in bright light or sun. I only wash my hair once a week or so, so this is plenty long for me. On my bleached hair, my ends are still purple, but the red is starting to show through after 10 washes and it looks more magenta. Here's my hair now:
