Hi everyone! I've started this forum to get everyone excited about their future growth. This thread is made to share hairstyles or ideas about stuff we can do to our hair when it gets longer, also to encourage each to grow out length and prevent cutting hair if we feel we'll regret it. What styles or things are you looking forward to doing once your hair gets to a desired longer length? I know I'll be excited once it reaches BSL and I'll be able to see my hair hanging down against my shirt. I'm also in love with braided Chinese buns and long side braids. I know there are tons of styles you can do with shorter hair, for example I adore my braided pigtails, but I'll be so excited to wear them longer! What are you most excited to do once you reach your desired length?

For me it's more about growing out layers than additional length, but there are still some buns I can't do because my hair is so thick (the thicker the hair, the longer it needs to be for buns). I can't do a nautilus bun yet, or a helix bun, or a few others that I can't remember right now. I can't do a celtic knot bun because of my layers (it looks terrible).

I have issues with layers too. Some of them range from about bottom ear length to an inch above the majority of my hair. I still do some buns really loose to prevent my layers from popping out badly. I wish you luck on growing out your layers!

I have layered classic length and the nautilus is out of my reach. Possibly due to the layering, also, I think.

I'm looking forward to doing a true coronet braid. I think some have said that will be around classic.

I looked up the coronet braid because I've never heard of one before. It's gorgeous!

That was the one I looked forward to the most, too. :agree: And yes, I reached it around classic. I think it should be achievable around classic for most people (depending on proportions of head/torso/etc, of course)...

Weirdly enough, I can't think of a style I anticipate... :hmm: Maybe only the Crochet- (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=57428)Stitch Bun/Braid (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=136207), Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) of Austria's looped braids (http://66.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5bp0tpbmy1qg0umko1_540.jpg) and getting longer tails on various Comet buns (http://rionashairblog.blogspot.ca/2014/03/length-shortening-buns-comet-bun.html)? :hmm: Or the Helix bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=128728) (though I have I feeling I won't be able to do it on my hair).
However, I'm painfully aware of the styles that are no longer really realistic with greater lengths for me, personally, for example, Ellingwoman Braided Bun or Heidi Braids or Amish Braided Bun or very sectioned updo styles and all sorts of really intricate braids.

I still can't do a Nautilus either, but I think I've moved on from that :) - it's just not all that irreplaceable to me in appearance compared to any other bun, IMHO.

Honestly, the biggest issue for me is that I seem unable to do *any* bun that isn't braided first. I really anticipated growing longer to be able to do un-braided buns, but I still can't do them and I've grown to accept it and to really love braided buns now, especially for their hold, intricate-looking-yet-easy-to-do effect and tangle-preventing qualities that braided buns bring to the table.

Yes, coronet bun is one I always wanted to do since I was little! Good to know that classic is what I need....Maybe I have a new growth goal after all.
I can't properly manage a nautilus either, but I think it might be the direction of wrapping. I think I did it once but it pulled badly,so I at least need more length still.
