I gasped when I saw this hairstyle, beautiful! We've probably all seen hair rosettes, but this takes them to new level! Ofcourse combining them with this colour makes the whole look extra special.

Another style my hair is not thick enough for :(

How do you think she's getting them to stay? I feel like they'd fall out the minute I moved faster than a slow walk.

I think they might have used miniature bobbypins and lots or styling products. You are right, those rosettes down her length would be under lot of stress from just moving around. Maybe this was a hairshow piece or wedding hair for seremony, and they changed her style to the reception or something.

I where going to edit my first post but ended up answering myself with a quote...

If you look closley you can see a bobbypin sticking out from one of the flowers and the braids are a variant of lace braids, so I think that it can hold for a while if you arent doing anything too physical.

You have better eyes than my old pair of peepers, I can't see a bobby pin, ha ha!

Or just a better screen:) I see one at the top of the second flower from the bottom and one at the right side in the left top flower:)

Nope my screen is pretty good, it was especially chosen for my photography/photoediting hobby, so eyes it is, unfortunately.

Vampyyri, yes please do! I was hoping someone would try it! My thickness and length don't give much to work with, and I suck at rosettes. :p

I wonder how the swoops are done. Are they just braid tassels pinned?

Looks like mini french braids with the ends rolled into itty bitty cinnabuns... it can't be that hard...right?

Looks like very carefully sectioned dutch lace braids. Yes the rosettes are braids coiled around. Keep it flat (versus cinnabunlike) and spiral-like, and pin as you coil, and pancake the outer edge of the braid only (becomes rosette petals), before coiling. Miniature bobby pins would be easier to hide than normal sized ones, and matching the bobby pin colour to your hair will help tons too. Try to push the pins under the surface of the braid, so they wouldn't be visible. With long hair the braids can be pretty thin because the length alone will allow to coil it lot of times.

I guess I'll have to learn how to lace braid then, and pick up some small bobby pins this weekend as well. I'll be the guinea pig for you guys

Lace braiding isn't difficult if you know how to french and/or dutch braid. It's just that instead of adding hair from left and right side, you always add hair from one side only.

Looking forward to your creations! Don't let the lack of perfect bobby pins to stop you, though. Use what you have for practicing. It might well be that normal size bobbies are perfect size for you, whereas those miniatures are perfect for me.

I was very into rosettes last summer and noticed I had too short hair (about shoulder/collarbone-ish) for them to turn out lovely. I think it hasn't changed much yet (APL) so I won't een try this style. You don't have that problem and with your length those rosettes can be really pretty and flowerlike! I found the pinning the most difficult; pinning them so that the pins wouldn't stick out and be visible.

I think with this style the most difficult thing would be (for me, on my own hair) the sectioning, hiding the pins, and possibly also how to get those swoops so nice and symmetrical.

Oh this is so beautiful!!! I can only dream of this kind of styling - would never come to fruition on me without a team of specialists - but what a beautiful dream...!!!

I did try this today, but I ended up just practicing lace braids and couldn't get it quite right with the way this style swoops and curves... once I get the technique down I'm going to try again, but it ended up being kind of a fail. Sorry guys, I'm so new to braiding that this was proving to be a challenge

No worries. It IS a challenging style, so don't feel bad. I am pretty good braider but never seem to get rosettes right on my hair (length is also an issue), and the disiplined sectioning is very difficult, and having to do all of this, and the pedantic arrangements, on your own hair is very much a challenge. I should have tried to make you reconsider, or prepare for it might not work yet.

But hey lace braiding is really useful skill to have, when you get that down your styling options will multiply!

We need to ask Vanilla to try this! With her pink ombre, this would look amazing on her. Wishing my hair had more of everything (thickness and length), I couldn't pull this off if I tried.

Artic sent me this style, and I attempted it this afternoon. I ended up modifying it a little bit (Dutch lace braids instead of French), but I'm not crazy about how it looks on me. i may need to do some more attempts and some additional modification for it to look aesthetically pleasing to me.

From the front, the two top lace braids aren't framing my face well. From the back, I'm not liking how much thickness I'm losing by making so many lace braids and rosettes. Wearing my hair down with this hairstyle isn't very flattering. I think if I add a pancaked Dutch braid down the middle, this may be a little nicer. I'll be sure to show you my next attempts :)

Thank you! I just think it would look really cool with your current color. Please let us know, even if it's a not so amazing result in your eyes, I'm sure it'll still look great!

So great that you tried it! I hope you'd figure out a modification that works for you, cause your coulor would be perfect!

I think the rosettes can be made of VERY thin braids. When ever I have tried them I have noticed that I always tend to take too much hair into my braid which doesn't allow the flower-like look on my hair. This is good news for those of us with thinner hair. And I hear you on the placements of lace braids that star from around the face: one of my most flattering hair styles start with these kinds of braids, but sometimes they just look blah. For me at least the part placement seems to be important. I need to make it either in the middle or as a deep side part. If it's a shallow side part it often seems to cause the style look meh from the front.
