How wavy am I really?

When I first joined the forum, I looked at the hairtyping pictures and figured that I probably was a 2a. But as time went, I saw people with hair much straighter than mine be typed as 2a, so I started wondering if I'm not actually a 2b. My hair used to be much wavier when I was a teen, so it's not impossible that it has just changed.

Here's what my hair looked like this morning. I let it airdry, but I slept on it, so the outside is a little flattened, but the inside (second picture) is still my natural texture.

Maybe 2b? On top looks straighter, but that second picture is definitely more wave than a 2a. Did you comb it at all?

First of all, if you slept on it, it's not a proper hair typing picture. So to be sure, I'd make another one after you washed it and let it air dry.

Also: did you comb it and use any leave-ins?

Based on the second picture, I would call this 2b.

That looks like 2b/c to me. I can see wurls on the bottom. Did you do anything to enhance the waves for the picture? :) Or did you just do a regular hairtyping picture?

Oh scrap that, I just read it is, but that you slept on it. It shouldn't change the wave pattern too too much, but a regular hairtyping pic without having slept on it would be better. :flower:

I'd for 2b as well, I would imagine it's a lot curlier at shorter lengths.

It isn't really doable for me not to sleep on my hair, as it takes so long to dry. I didn't comb it, use any leave-in or do anything to enhance the curls though.

Maybe on a day you're free from work, you could wash it in the morning? I feel your pain by the way. Mine takes ages to dry as well!

Wavy hair can go anywhere from 2a to 2c any day of the week, so I just leave mine at 2a here. I know for sure it's in the 2s :laugh:

As it looks right there, I think I'd call it 2b or 2b/c. But 2c hair can vary so much day-to-day that you might be a solid 2c that's having a straighter day thanks to combing and whatnot.

Those waves are spiraling at the bottom. I say you're a 2c and it looks 2b because sleep does squash waves and curls and straightens them out a bit. If you did allow it to airdry I bet it would be more spirally.

I know that I do have some spirals when I leave my hair to dry during the day, but only a few.

And as it almost never happens (the only exception being after swimming), I'm not sure if it's worth knowing what my hairtype would be in that situation. So I'll stick with 2b for now.
