This bald spot on my scalp it itches,is tender to the touch, and has a lump in the center. My doctor said that she doesn't know what it is but said she is sure it's nothing to worry about. Made her refer me to dermatologist but that takes weeks.

Hi, I changed your image to a link. You'll note though, that it shows your name -- you might want to load it to an image host like Photobucket, Imgur, etc. I'll remove the other links if you do. (As a moderator, I can do that, especially since you can't edit your posts yet. ;) )

The first two things that come to mind are alopecia areata and ringworm. Alopecia can make little bald patches that don't really look irritated or anything else, and it seems to correspond to things like stress. I think they can treat it with ointments or cortisone, but that probably is something you'll need a dermatologist to decide. Ringworm's a fungal infection, and the edges of the hairless spot would look irritated. I can't tell from the picture if that's the case, but I would hope your doctor would be able to identify it. It would require an antifungal treatment and treating it like alopecia might be bad.

I hope you figure out what's going on!

Is that a raised bump I see, or is that just a red spot in the middle of the bald spot? Woooh girl, go get thee to a dermatologist NOW! Nobody on this forum has the power to help you with this. This is for a doctor to assess!

It may be a cyst. If it is, it's easily treatable.
