Hi all,

So I have been around the boards for 9 years now. I stopped cutting my hair short a year or so before joining so I have been growing actively for 10 years now. It has been smooth sailing - no dramas, no real mishaps - the hair has just been hanging around chilling, I guess.

To celebrate, here is a picture of my slightly damp and not combed hair before my boat trip this weekend:

Maybe I should write about my hair routine:

Washing every third day with schampoo and conditioner. Oiling after washing. Combing twice a day. Always wearing it up. Henna on the roots when I can't stand them anymore.

That's pretty much it.

Congratulations! And it's encouraging to hear someone gets so far without any major mishaps.

Not sure if just lucky or just having good hair genes :P The only struggle I'm having is to find a good workout hairstyle.

My hair is much shorter, but so far 2 spin pins in a bun means my hair won't budge.

Pins budge in my hair - I need it to be perfectly still as I'm all over the place when I work out. It also needs to be comfy as I need to lay on it. Braiding is not an option - can get stuck in the machines (and I feel naked with my hair down).

That's an idea. Although I hate braiding my hair in general (it likes itself too much). Pins tend to slide a bit too.

I think I'm going to hunt for some sort of large flat plastic clips.

Congratulations on 9 years!!! That's a beautiful mane you've grown :D

I don't have nearly your length but my hair defies pins too. Figuring out workout hair is a dilema for me as well - I can't offer any tried-and-true solution there, just empathy and understanding ;)

Looking good, Hypnotica!

As far as ways to secure it, I picked up some of these a few weeks back, on Gossamer's recommendation, and they're about perfect. https://www.etsy.com/listing/92670699/20pcs-100x25mm-large-silver-tone-u-shape

9 years? Wow!! Congrats! Cindy Christian doubled up her long nape length braid when she worked out. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwXh4iZfAJ8 (at 1:05 it shows her doubled up braid for exercising ;) so this would probably make it shorter so as not to get caught up into the machines. ;)

Pony scrub hat! It's up, protected from schmutz on the machines and incidental dirt, you can actually workout because no one starts asking about your hair/hair color (I'm a real redhead, with the grey streaks to prove it and one woman always asks when I did the color/did I do it at home/ what box it is.
For some reason, "I don't color, doesn't compute.

I like that idea! I imagine the hat supports the hair somewhat, so you don't have to worry about the pins being perfect?

Nope. I like henna from Yemen though. I just mix it with hot water and some conditioner for slippage and sit with it for 2 h. I don't even let the henna sit and develop before putting it on my head.

I bun on the top of my head and use 2-4 of these. The only way I've found to make my hair stay when I sleep or exercise but your bun is bigger so don't know. Your hair is incredible.

Can't get Goody products here - but I should fins something similar. Sadly, that type of clips has a short lifespan in my possession. :P
