Nine years ago yesterday (19 June), I finally joined this site. I had been prompted to do so by the (now ex-)husband of a (now long inactive) member, Arwen80. Though she is no longer active here, her legacy lives on in me!
I grew up with very long hair, then when I was ten I asked my mom to take me in to have six inches of what I now know were fairytale ends cut off. The girl at SuperCuts either misunderstood me or didn't care what I wanted, and cut my tailbone length hair back to six inches LONG. I wound up with a painfully short and terribly ugly mushroom cut that took years to grow out. For the next several years, I maintained somewhere between BSL and Waist, and then when I was 19, I had my final Proper Hair Cut. I went back to BSL, and when I was 23 I was told about this magical place.
By that time, I was down to Hip, the longest my hair had been in years.

Now, nine years of advice, routine changes, trims, sheds, and growth later, I am at knee+. Sadly many of my progress photos have been lost to the ravages of time, dead computers, and site failures (still waiting on all those album photos to be restored as promised, Mod Squad... ;)), so I have few photos to show my journey.
My my original goal had been Classic length, thinking that that was how long I had gotten before the Stupid Cuts hacking. Then my goal was Thigh, then Knee. As of right now, my plan is to microtrim and maintain at Knee, and see if I can't get my thickness back up to snuff.

In closing, I would like to thank you all for the nine years of friendship, fun, support, tears, virtual hugs, post-op advice, New dog and kitty congratulations, dog loss commiserations, anger, advice, reality checks, head slaps, recipes, crafting advice, and love. The Longhair Community is truly a spectacular place, the last bastion of kindness in the whole internet, and a site I cherish.
Love,
angela
