Hello,

Ten days ago I died my dark hair wishing to obtain a cold medium brown. I have mixed 7.01 and 8NS of CDC (Compagnie del colore) with a 30 volume developper (9%).
Helas, I came out with a brassy brown (orange brown)!! I repeated immediately just the 7.01 one, but nothing changed...

I want to change this wierd color. My ideal color is as on the last picture ; she says she colors her (naturally dark) hair with Wella Koleston 7.11.

Now, should I use Wella Koleston 7.11 to have this color, or should I better use Wella Illumina Color 7.81 (ou 5.81) or 6.16?
How long should I wait befor this second coloration? I'd like to have permanent result so I won't be obliged ro recolor after that.

I'd be glad to have your ideas!! :)

I'm in no way expert at this, but my initial impression is that you have a lot of red pigments in your hair that the 30v developer brought out. Rather than adding another dye with another developer, I think what you need is a blue toner to counteract the orange shades you're seeing.

Thank you Anje for your answer!! What do you mean by a toner? Because I have searched before and I concluded that a toner is only for blond hair... In my case demi-permanent color could help apparently but I really want a lasting result.

There is blue shades in 5.81 or 7.81 (8=blue), what do you think about using a 20 volumes = 6% (even 10 volumes =4%) developer? I'm thinking about the 20vol which is used in darkening as well and the results which are more lasting than with 10 vol... But not sure which to choose since somebody was suggesting me to take a 6 vol (1,8%)...

Lower developer is going to mean less damage, and I don't think you'll need to lighten further. 10v might be enough. Toners are definitely common for blond hair, because most people dyeing blond are lightening their hair and a lot of them are fighting brassy tones, whereas many of the people going deep brunette are dyeing darker and don't have to contend with that. As you're lightening, I suspect toner is still the way to go.

We've got a few pro stylists around here, some of whom probably have good colorist experience. In general though, I'd say the majority of people here don't do much chemical dyeing, so I don't know how much knowledgeable response you'll get.
