Yeah I pretty much said it. I'm looking at pinterest for prom hair idea but the hairstyles seems to have a lot of hair and I'm freaking bald so.

Do you guys have ideas for long almost tailbone length straight thin and fine hair? thanks :)

What style is your dress? Do you specifically want an updo? I think half-ups are really pretty, and don't require a lot of hair, or something gibson tuck-ish, like this: http://www.humblebeeandme.com/everyday-edwardian-wrap-roll-hairstyle/

I agree, depends on your dress, and whether you want to wear it up or down. if you get a doughnut, you could do a low, off-centered sock bun with some soft finger waves in the front for a Gatsby-esque updo. Something with a sock bun (or even some extensions) would free you up to do accent braids around the updo with your natural hair. You can buy loose extensions at Sally and braid them into your own hair, so not damaging at all.

Haha guys my dress is dark grey. :P And it's not like a big princess dress it's like the dress is just like normal with some kind of shine at the chest. :P

What's the style though, strappy, sleeves, strapless? Full skirt, narrow skirt, slit, vintage-y, preppy, boho? Are you accessorizing with a big necklace, dangley earrings, minimalist jewelry? Got a stock photo? What's the vibe you're going for? ;)

I think the off-center sock bun is a good idea, or a half up with twisties or a waterfall braid... Maybe a french twist?

(Why yes, I do have too much time and never got to go to prom...)

As others have said it all depends on what style you're going for. I also have very thin hair and had the same problem as you when trying to find a hair style for my wedding two years ago. Personally I do like pinned up braids as I find they give a very intricate look. Examples on my hair:

On my wedding I ended up with this updo:

On my own prom many years ago this is how I wore my hair:

I only had shoulder length hair then but it should be possible on longer hair as well.

Just some ideas. If you like any of them and want tutorials, just let me know.
