A more whimsical mode of measurement...

I recently had the very silly idea of measuring my hair by the tresses of iconic fictional characters. I did some research (relying heavily on Google image search ;)) and came up with this list of some well-known long-haired ladies (and gentlemen!) of fantasy and sci-fi. These are just the ones I happened to think of off the top of my head, please enlighten me so that I may add to the list! Also, these are based on images from films whenever possible; movie directors don't tend to put a lot of classic LHC-style length shots in their movies, and oftentimes clothing makes it difficult to judge anatomical markers, so please forgive any poor length judgements! I bow to your superior knowledge!! :bowtome: Here goes...

**The length seemed to vary somewhat, which isn't too surprising given the fact that we're dealing with an animated character here, and one with very bouncy hair! I'm using the movie version, not the "sparkly" redesign. That version has hair around Classic length!

Yes! It's not the easiest to try and translate the bulk of it, but that's the gist yes.

Sure is handy that the same length abbreviations are used! ;)

If the list gets somewhat longer, I might try and come up with a better way to organize it. Pictures are good idea, though! I'll definitely try and come up with some picture links!

I wouldn't use padme's hair--it goes from curly to straight, short to long overnight, and has zero continuity. It's gorgeous, but couldn't be comparable (I mean, just watch her brush her curls!;p)

Her braids are actually just hair held with ribbon casings, without any plaiting of the hair itself, so her hair is probably just about as long as it looks in the braids. And don't feel too bad about the thickness! I recall reading somewhere that false hair was sometimes used in the long, thick braids of the Early Medieval/Norman period. I can't seem to find another source that mentions it, though, so don't take my word as fact!

This is a creative idea on measuring your length. I would say I'm closer to a Frodo Baggins length than an Aragorn length, but I want to be at least that length when it is all said and done.

Melisandre looks to be at least hip to tailbone to me, but she also has waves and that shrinks things up, so we could assume somewhere between like... TBL-Classic
